What were you THINKING?

Slave-holding American Southerners were pretty damn racist, and yet somehow neglected to kill everyone not them. It may surprise you to know that people can have bad beliefs and do bad things without literally being psychopathic serial killers.

And yet somehow @Babale is the third most prolific poster in this thread.

It took all of 10 minutes while I was having my morning coffee. Deal with it.

Because they couldn’t, and because they were more inclined to slavery. But they did want to conquer other nations and enslave more people, and force everyone else to go along with it.

Modern fascism is more about genocide.

You’d be stuck in traffic somewhere.

Okay, I actually laughed in real life at this one.

I invite everyone to say “fascist racists” ten times in a row, real fast. It’s not easy.

It’s quite a bit easier to say “fucking assholes”.

Where is that damn jetpack when I need it?

Same here. The thing about SoCal is that you don’t have to do anything to enjoy it. Being here is the joy itself. Mostly kidding; I feel that way but I know lots and lots of peeps disagree.

Has Lumpy always been this dumb (or maybe just… bad)? Saying ethnic cleansing can be warranted? What will happen in Gaza now that Trump won? - #208 by Lumpy

EDIT: chappachula too:

That’s especially dumb.

How hard is it to just say ethnic cleansing is bad?

It’s hypocritical to condemn Israel from the peace and safety of the United States (whose military has had absolutely no problem with killing any number of Iraqis, Afghanis and other brown Muslim people in the name of safety) and trying to Monday-morning quarterback the IDF on what they should or shouldn’t do.

I don’t think you know the meaning of that term.

Hypocrisy means condemning someone for something that you do yourself, or support someone else doing.

I’m against any form of ethnic cleansing from anyone, and I’ve of course never engaged in it myself. Holding everyone to the same standards is the opposite of hypocrisy.

And if and when the US engages in it I’ll hold them accountable too.

Yeah…considering how much condemnation there was on the board regarding our misadventures in Iraq and Afghanistan before, during, and after the fact, that’s a truly peculiar example of “hypocrisy”

If the United States wanted to ethnically cleanse Iraqis, Afghanis and other brown Muslim people they did a rather poor job of it considering the ability it has to do so.

Asked and answered, I see.

*sigh*

What he said :backhand_index_pointing_up:

Apologies for rehashing Mar 2025 drama, but IIRC Darren is from New Zealand, DemonTree is from the UK and you are from Canada. Very different exposure to international (i.e. non-Hollywood) cinema. I’m an animation fan residing in the USA, so yeah I’ve heard of Studio Ghibli for decades, but I also grasp that most North Americans have not, whatever their education and hippness.

I’d cut our non-North American posters some slack here. We’re all in the anglosphere and geekosphere, but there still remain interesting cultural differences. Admittedly I’m a weeb, so I tend to look fondly on any and all promotion of anime or manga.

Our frequent flying Magiver is doing his “impervious to reading” trick in the “Biden has prostate cancer” thread. Starting just below my post cited here and running off and on for the next hundred posts.

His contention amounts to

Of course they should have been testing his PSA all the time, and of course there’s no downside to false positives for anyone, and of course I have no idea what the actual physicians in the thread have cited as actual national guidance on PSA testing. But they should have been testing and treating for a long time now instead of suddenly being surprised.
