Indeed, especially since the thread title is in the second person. If you want to talk about someone in the third person, I’d say that’s implicit acknowledgment any commentary about them belongs in… the other thread.
I did run the title by Miller prior to starting this thread, and confirmed that we are on the safe side of the fuzzy line about insulting titles even in the Pit. So we can do direct links (creating back links) without falling afoul of our guidelines. And since I try to focus on constructive criticism, and calling one-off moments of poor posting, it’s fine if you want to @ someone, and more importantly, keep the Pit behavior out of non-Pit threads.

Was just pointing out the usual lunacy, not his stance on guns , but overall much like what someone upthread said about jokes that seem to have no premise or a tortured premise. Next time I’ll make sure to only give a half response I guess? Especially since I have no intention of responding to his obvious over the top as per usual response that has little to do with what I stated. My apologies I admittedly didn’t look at dates. I didn’t realize it had “calmed” down. I was just shocked that of all the ppl he critiqued the one person with zero animosity towards him had received (to me) the most virulent response. I guess I did just “pile” on. And stir shit up. Once again my apologies. To my view I was just scrolling down and catching up. For one , I don’t even read this on weekends as its a work only vice. No excuse though, should have paid attention to dates or scrolled down to end of thread before responding. Very hard for me to remember what I was going to say coasting down those 40 or so posts but it would have been for the best probably. Can’t promise I will do that in the future. Most likely will still put my foot in my mouth. Especially if its just a few days. Mostly I just posted all during my breaks today.
Towards the second comment. I didn’t start it up again. I commented on a post I JUST read. That seemed to be ok except for the one part where he attacked the one person who wasn’t attacking them… I commented on it. In my not so nice style as this is the pit. I thought it was an accurate analogy considering how all over the place the accusations were. But apparently it wasn’t quick enough and I should only post on the date of said msg. Msg received… (so was I trolling or piling on… which one since I’ve been accused of both now by both ppl in said discussion?) It’s like the red scare with some of you especially people who think they have an ability to “sense” them heh…

It’s a good idea. The average Pit thread is about as useless as real life responses to social faux pas, ie exclusion and gossiping behind the person’s back. In many cases, constructive criticism could actually be useful.

Just expressing my recreational amusement at the latest iteration of the Strangelove vs. Stranger Wars, this time in the Bridge to Sicily thread. As before, the former posts some pie in the sky idea, the latter carefully expounds on why it can’t work, the former comes back saying that ok, but this one little side detail is nonetheless plausible! The latter then explains that it is beside the point when the entire notion remains implausible.
Both of them use their excess ego to compensate for their poor perception of the limits of their own knowledge. It’s unfortunate, because they are both quite knowledgeable. But when either one discusses something you happen to know about, you quickly see the dingles of bullshit scattered through. It requires careful combing to get clean information from them.
I don’t think they use AI in their posts, but their reliability is similar to it.
Eh, it’s not quite a both-sides situation. I think Stranger’s reliability is around 95-98%, while Strangelove’s is more like 80%.
Like you say, both are knowledgeable, but in an argument between them, my money is usually on Stranger.
