What were you THINKING?

Yeah, I check the dropdown to see which threads someone said something to me in; but I rarely click on them in the dropdown for that reason. I go to the thread in unread and click on it there instead, to get to the first post I haven’t read.

Me three! Like nuking from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure (you’re not skipping some content).

I read the thread title. Read the OP.

I might read it quickly. If it seems interesting, I re-read.

I think,

I retain what I read pretty well.

I’ve found on here if you read a new thread it pays to really try to understand before you post a response.

I’ve failed miserably. Not a lot. But some. And occasionally I’ve posted some really stupid crap. (Ok, I’ve done it some, I admit it :face_with_peeking_eye: )

In the end it’s personal responsibility to read and understand before posting.

Ehh. No one is perfect.

I’ve enjoyed that thread, for what it’s worth. And I’m also understanding of the spoons theory and how that affects one’s capacity in a given day. I have a few different things going on that make doing pretty much anything difficult. Right now I’m doing resistance training weekly, but I can’t overdo it or I’ll be out of commission for a few days. But if I don’t do it, my Achilles tendonitis gets worse.

I assumed the title was intentionally provocative to lure in folks who aren’t lifting weights to engage and learn more about it. And, well, it worked for me.

And I hope that you found the interactions there supportive rather than judgmental.

I’m thinking there are one too many Wolfpups.
That’s ain’t right.

Shouldn’t names be more sacred?
This new wolfpup(s) just joined recently. He can’t just come in here and steal a name like that.

never mind.

You can type a name so that people know what you’re talking about.

It’s not literally “wolfpup” because two users can’t have the same name.

I know. But too close.

I don’t want some sock making an account for “beekdadreek”

Seems jerkish to do it. If you did it accidentally than contact a mod and change it.

1st come, 1st served. I say.

I do not like it. I do not like it one bit.

The person in question is wolfpups. See

Seems to be a young fellow with some finance industry expertise.

Sure, and I’m an obsolete qualification badge of the Army.

Huh? I’m not disagreeing, just not understanding.

My take on his occupation (or at least interest) came from reading a smattering of his posts. Seems like an OK chap so far.

Maybe he’s real, maybe he isn’t, but (1) nothing about his posts suggests advanced knowledge (I mean, I know what a reverse mortgage is and wouldn’t even have to google it to come up with a similar answer) and (2) people use fake/borrowed profile images or at least images that don’t literally represent them all the time.

Case in point, my profile picture is of an obsolete qualification badge of the US Army (Nuclear Reactor Operator - Shift Supervisor). Why? Not because I am such a badge. Just that (1) I was a Navy nuke myself, but there is no equivalent nuke-only badge (but there damn well ought to be, IMHO) and (2) I think the Army’s nearest equivalent badge looks cool.

But rest assured, I am not such an inanimate metal object.

For sure I don’t think the pic of the guy sitting on his car hood is necessarily really him on really his (rather ordinary non-descript) car. And yeah, there’s not a lot of evidence about the guy, besides that he puts up a confident front.

We’ll see. I don’t see anything inherently suspicious about the fact he chose a name similar to an existing one; it’s not like the signup UI gives you a list of taken names so you can maliciously pick a variation on one of them.

IMO we’d not be discussing this fellow at all if Beck hadn’t been triggered by the name similarity.

FWIW, I still have a bone to pick with whatever jerk picked out the username @asl some time in the last century, posted exactly once, and seemingly hasn’t been back since.

Mods have asked users to change names when they’re close enough to cause confusion. I remember that happening with a user whose name was too close to @even_sven.

IMO, this should happen here.

I’ve flagged the name similarity for moderation. We’ll see what happens this time..

You think that’s bad, my username would be Atama but someone registered that name in 2000 and never made a single post.

Don’t get me started on @Sherlock
