What were you THINKING?

People have scoured things clean with dirt throughout history! It’s pretty effective for grease removal in particular.

You need parsley to cleanse your palate. Not "SHITCOCK".

I’m not sure, but that’s not dirt either.

If you just let it go they fade out on their own.

Pfft! Palate cleanser. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Not a recommended version of badminton.

Well, I got the reference, fuckwad!

Haha, it was a bit obscure and I didn’t expect anyone to.

I mean, for nerd culture people who have been active on the internet for decades, it isn’t really that obscure.

Is Uzi some kind of Canadian MAGA? Should I just not bother engaging in the Carney thread?

This guy gets it.

Yeah, that’s pretty much accurate. Far right wing isolationist. Massive partisan blinders and constantly expects Mark Carney (and Trudeau before him) to perform the impossible when it comes to negotiating with Trump. And then blames everyone except Trump when the impossible fails to materialize.

He also thinks Alberta should secede from Canada and it will magically become the Saudi Arabia of North America with its gigantic oil profits. Conveniently ignoring the practical issues (such as being landlocked) and the last 100+ years of history.

I’ve been following the Canadian/Carney threads in P&E for quite awhile and what he’s doing in the newest thread is typical. No I wouldn’t consider him worth engaging with. Fairly benign as far as trolls go but he’s a one trick pony and he’s not going to budge because he’s just reading from a political hymnal. Nuance seems non-existent in his world.

OK, thanks! I think Canadian MAGA is pretty close to the mark, as far as trying to break through the mental blocks go.

I don’t really know enough to engage usefully in that thread anyway.

To answer this thread, I don’t know what I was thinking!

The real solution to the Alberta “problem” is split the province between Saskatchewan and British Columbia. That way, Canada won’t be able to steal from Alberta anymore, and the people there can get all those great benefits that Albertans have been denied.

Oh hell no it isn’t. It’s mean spirited and nasty to call someone “peak stupid”. If they happen to be a close friend and you have personal understanding that you are speaking in jest, it could be okay. But to say that about a stranger on the internet is, at best, an attempt to drive them away. It’s not cute. It’s not friendly. And i really hope the poster doesn’t read all those nasty comments about them.

Maybe not, but my father used to refer to himself as a liver doctor, which is the same construct.

What was it like to be raised by an anthropomorphic liver from a prescription medicine commercial?

That’s because he cut to the chase after the thousandth time of someone asking him what a hepatologist is. “So you work with snakes?” “No, that’s a herpetologist.” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

(My father was a nephrologist. He told everyone—non-medical people, of course—that he was a kidney doctor.)

To be fair, it was me calling @wolfpup’s behavior “peak stupid”. He just called engineers “not the epitome of literacy” and said that the poster “even g[o]t their job title wrong” and suggested they were a robot, based on his pretending to misunderstand what they meant when they said they were an “electronic engineer.”

I was mean-spirited and nasty in calling that behavior “peak stupid,” I guess, but that sort of supercilious mockery of folks for their word choices gets up my nose. I shouldn’t let it irritate me so much, probably.

@Dr.Drake just figured it out, too!

I was actually trying to figure out a way to say “who, exactly, is paying you to post shitty anti-Canada propaganda on a small American message board?” without breaking P & E rules.

Yeah, not worth getting a warning for a shitposter like that.

The word for that kind of people is “Cipayo”: Sepoy, someone who fights for the interests of the colonial power instead of his own people.
