Maybe I’m crazy, but I think judging positions based on where they fall compared to “the times” is not particularly productive. “Times” could always be headed to shit, after all. Not to Godwinize things, but I’d probably prefer a 1930s German who was “behind the times” when it came to getting on board with the hot new political party that’s so ‘in’ right now.
Instead, I think it is better to analyze positions based on their own merits. In the case of the teacher with an unconventional side-gig, what are the actual risks that concern you? How realistic are they?
Given what I’ve heard about Germans in 1930s Germany at least some of them would wonder what the fuck people are so upset about.

There is a critical difference here.
The teacher(s) in question are not directly impacted by anything Beck says or thinks. Beck certainly reflects a values base and thought process very commonly held in this country that is very unpopular among many of this board, but her words and actions are unlikely heard or felt by the teacher.
The hostile to vulgar and violent thoughts here, beyond even standard Pit pale, were in contrast directly aim at a person to their virtual face. Yeah I get that the mob feels she asked for it, and it’s the Pit, but at some point this is more akin to cyber bullying than anything else.
She is wrong and she makes her arguments both poorly and in ways that insult both those here and not here. Probably her some of her posting out of MPSIMS should get mod guidance. But dang doing a Clockwork Orange reenactment is a bit above and beyond. She implies that men dealing with issues women displaying their bodies are motivated by lust and misogyny. And women who defend displays of sex are just naive. Yeah I get the offense taken! 
But …wow. To reference someone else, okay to be excessively violent if you wear a white hat?
ETA I don’t know too much of Beck but most here seemed to like her before. When behavior is very different than an established track record maybe it reflects something else going on and some understanding is appropriate?

I pushed back against a specific post with some OTT language–but I also think this kind of hyperbole isn’t really helpful. The vast majority of posts expressing anger with beck have been completely in line with the purpose of the pit. The profusion of them don’t express a mob, but rather a bunch of people who have had enough of some obnoxious behavior.
Maybe most folks liked her before. I confess that I didn’t pay her much attention to her, before I saw her posting some transphobic nonsense a couple of months ago. I think this is the first time I’ve really encountered her in a thread I was interested in. It may be the first time she’s been so adamantly advocating policy that harms people.
Dibble’s was particularly outside what I’ve seen as norms. Even for him.
The rest of it, well my Pit experience is less than some but it does seem more pile on than I’ve seen before.
If you see this more as Pit bog standard I will defer to greater Pit experience.
It’s pretty standard for a one of the Pit threads about particular posters that multiple people have a problem with. What’s different is that this is a general Pit thread that just turned into a thread about a particular poster.
I didn’t join in the pile on (just made a couple of comments but not really taking a side) because I don’t have the same experiences as those who are upset (on either side) and don’t feel the need to jump in for recreational purposes.
But is this pretty typical Pit discussion? Sure, nothing new or egregious in this thread.
