Huh, I learned from this thread that there was never any intention of genocide, and yet Trump is talking about Gaza being cleared of Palestinians and Bibi is not shocked and outraged.
Both Trump and Kushner made comments about this exact scheme last year while he was campaigning, why is everyone acting all surprised now?

I’m waiting for the handwave of this new atrocity. The argument for how the apparent support of Bibi and rest of the Israeli political right for expelling the palestinians is not a desire for a land grab or ethnic cleansing. The point of whether they are the same kind of bad faith actor now, or this was the original plan seems irrelevant to me.
Frankly this reminds me of past threads on the west bank (let’s assume not with you, I can’t remember). Where various principled arguments are tried for how Israel is being more than reasonable, and ultimately, after they all fail, it always comes down to “because they can”.
Israel doesn’t need to morally justify new settlements, they are doing it because they can.

Because it’s been used for years now as one of the deflections when Trump has been found blatantly lying, and one of his surrogates has run out of gaslight. They’ll use the “their lips are moving” joke.
The reality is, the typical politician mostly engages in spin and framing of a real issue, which yeah might be misleading in some cases. Good politicians try to avoid misframing issues, but they might still occasionally mislead if they have got some data wrong due to human error.
But look at how hard Republicans have had to search to find examples of, for example, Obama getting anything outright wrong in 8 years as president.
There’s no comparison with what Trump does; just making shit up out of whole cloth on a daily basis, and not caring (probably hoping), to put people’s lives at risk.

By the same token, I would be amazed if it actually happens that US armed forces end up evicting Palestinians from Gaza. Not that Trump doesn’t really believe it would be a good idea, just that reality still has a way of intervening.

It’s far too late to say the “Gazans” will only go elsewhere temporarily as he’s said America will keep it. Way, way too late to say “only temporary deportation” esp as no country in the region will take them, and they do not want to go.

I’m shocked that Prime Minister Netanyahu is supporting Trump’s plan. Why would Israel want direct US interference in Gaza?
I can’t think of anything much more foolish than getting the US involved in that Clusterfuck. No one has ever found a Palestinian solution in the past 75 years.
Trump is correct that relocation is the only permanent solution. But you can’t forcibly relocate 2 million people. People who already have a military organization and would bring the fight to American soil.
But the white house has back-tracked from that. At first he said: permanently move them, America will own it, Riviera/Mar-a-Lago for “The World”.
Sure, not having people in the areas being bulldozed and sculpted for Golf Courses would be preferable. The Gazans have heard the truth - that they’ll be in the way permanently and at best Netanyahu is backing the “if they want to leave, they can, if not watch out for the heavy equipment” and if you can believe him, only temporarily. Yet no country within walking/migration distance wants them, and to their credit, this is their home and they are staying and not being manipulated by the Israelis or this lying President.
