What would be the best case scenario. Re: trump

Except the supermodels.

I think you underestimate a supermodel’s sense of civic duty.

Best case scenario:

Trump continues to prove he is an inept criminal. The GOP keeps making excuses for him, but the evidence keeps piling up. The executive branch reigns in his most destructive urges, so the damage he does is not severe. Scandal and disorganization prevents the GOP from doing anything in congress.

As a result of this, a large scale grassroots awakening occurs where the public realize that democracy isn’t guaranteed, and if politicians aren’t competent, or don’t respect the law, or value party over country then bad things will happen. A golden age of civics occurs as large numbers of the public get involved in civics to prevent something like this from happening again.

After this occurs, Trump is either impeached or loses reelection.

I think you’ve overestimated the size of old Donald’s member.

I started this thread seeking solutions.

I didn’t want to leave anything out. So, I said anything is possible.

I appreciate the plausible answers. In the beginning it was said that Pence maybe worse. But maybe that is being rethought.

The not so plausible answers have been entertaining. And lift my spirits in these trying times.

Thank you.

Best case practical scenario is:

Investigation hamstrings him
Nothing gets done in the current Congress
Any wacky Executive Orders get tied up in court
Dems take the House in 2018
Defeat in 2020

The reality is, he’s just gonna keep using the strongman tactics (I’ll do whatever I want, try to stop me, I don’t think you have the balls, I may or may not do anything illegal or impeachable, but you don’t have the right to know either way) all the way through.

You are going to want your 4 years back from having watched the Trump Show.

Looking at it from a glass half full point of view…

The best case scenario is playing out of its own accord:

Trump is a punchline - a laughable, unlovable buffoon. Every time the loudmouthed orange idiot opens his trap, or types a tweet, he makes himself into a laughing stock and pariah.

I think the best that we can do is continue to ridicule and wind him up on every public venue and at every opportunity. Sooner or later, if his heart doesn’t explode, his fat, comically huge head will.

Because you can’t fix stupid, but you can point and laugh at it.

I agree with this, but to extend this a little further, keep pointing out his falsehoods and also keep pressure on those who enable him – people like Nunes and McConnell. Make everyone who behaves in a like-minded manner accountable. What’s happening now is much more than just Donald Trump, who is really more a symptom of the disease rather than the disease itself.

this echoes my opinion. Hamstring them, hold them up to ridicule, send them packing in 2018, then file serious malfeasance in office charges against Pence and Thrump. Elect a Progressive in 2020, enact single payer in 2021, turn defense spending into infrastructure, education and healthcare to the point we don’t spend any more of our percent of GDP on defense than anyone else in the world.

Go to church for the first time in 30 years and thank God for miracles.

For sure. And while the ‘fake’ media bears a large responsibility in giving Trump more attention than he ever deserved in the primaries, I think they’ve really stepped up and are now calling him and his apologists out on their bullshit (so much bullshit) quite effectively.

I’m concerned with it happening again. Think about it - eyeballs and ad dollars when they give attention to someone like Trump in the first place and then eyeballs and ad dollars again when they give him (negative) attention after he’s elected. I hope things don’t go that way, but the thought concerns me.

There probably isn’t a happy ending scenario.

The best we can reasonably hope for is that Trump doesn’t do anything disastrous between now and the day his successor is sworn in.

If this were to happen, maybe I would rethink atheism. My best case scenario includes Trump remaining until at least 2019 because while Trump is an ineffectual evil, Pence would actually get his agenda through. So what I hope for is a massive Democratic sweep in 2018, leaving the Dems in charge of the House and, unlikely as it seems, even getting three more seats in the Senate (I can hope, can’t I). Now Trump tweets on for two more years and then Bernie wins in 2020. Improves Obamacare instituting a single payer alternative. You know it was blue-dog Democrats who killed that, in return for their votes.

Meantime the Dems realize that the key to continued control is to rebuild their state-wide organizations so that they can control the redistricting that will take place after the 2020 census. They will be tempted to simply gerrymander the other way, but I hope they institute non-partisan redistricting.

Since I am dreaming, let me add one more thing: A national ID card, free and readily available and a national law requiring states to accept it for voting. Since some states have made it hard to get birth certificates, the ID card would be available upon attestation. There would possibly be a few people who lie, but most undocumented people want to keep as far away from the authorities as possible, while legal immigrants would not want to do anything to jeopardize their eventual citizenship.

We all wake up tomorrow to find that it is November 7, 2016.

That was a purely political calculation, giving him the chance to act like the glorious leader and bomb the shit out of someone, hoping to raise his atrocious approval ratings. It had nothing to do with his being a good human, because, bottom line, he isn’t and never will be.

The best case likely scenario is more or less what’s unfolding, although I’d like to see more Part C action:
Part A: Trump keeps shooting himself in the foot and then sticking it into his mouth, and more and more news comes out indicating that his is a compromised administration, and every time he attempts to do something, it fails to go through or gets overturned for being unconstitutional or gets bypassed by the actions of states and cities and citizens

Part B: Trump gets increasingly pissed off and frustrated and careens about madly, attacking his own team, attacking congressional Republicans, and thus undermines the agenda of his own party and others within his administration, keeping them from getting much of anything done either

Part C: Tired of his political and pragmatic incompetence or personally pissed off in return in response to his personal attacks, more and more Republicans who would normally work with a Republican president start treating him as an opposition leader and begin actively working to sideline him in hopes of replacing him with a stable coherent Republican in 2020

Part D: The 2020 election goes to someone with very different politics (I’d prefer a Democrat but I’d seriously consider voting for Susan Collins) and they undo the damage he’s done as quickly as possible

Not her Orange Monkey.
Not her Monkey Turds.

We’ll make Ted Nugent pay his debt to society by cleaning up that diseased corpse. On his knees. With chopsticks.

Well, Ted can “…make a pussy purr with a stroke of my hand”. And Donald likes to “Grab them by the pussy!”, so there’s that.

Call me cynical. I think Trump decided he would use the chemical attack as an excuse to show the world he is not Putin’s lapdog. Thus orchestrating a WWF style “bad blood” episode to throw the masses off of the “Russian collusion” thing. Seriously, how could Trump been in cahoots with Russia only to unleash $100M worth of ordinance on an Syrian airfield?

Jus’ sayin’

Best case was outlined above: Dem’s retake the house in 2018, Trump, Pence, his family and the cast of clowns have treasonous charges proven and the speaker of the house becomes President.

Second best, Trump has a stroke and becomes a drooling idiot (without the ability to tweet). Pence takes over but gets run out of town on a Russian rail.

The constitution doesn’t have a “do over” clause in the case of treason or foreign interference. But should a sane Republican end up as President owing to the removal of Trump/Pence, an olive branch would be to ensure Merrick Garland as the next Supreme
