What would you add to Kent Keith's Paradoxical Commandments Of Life?

They’ve just published an updated version of Kent Keith’s "Paradoxical Commandments Of Life". From what I’ve heard; Mr. Keith got the idea to revise & republish his orginal work, written in the 60’s while he was still a teenager, after coming across multiple references to his writings. A broad spectrum of corporations and people (from Mother Theresa to Famous Amos) have either borrowed from or outright plagurized Mr Keith’s commandents.

Here’s a paraphrased list:[ol]
[li]Love people even though they’re illogical, and self centered.[/li][li]Do good, even when accused of selfish, ulterior motives.[/li][li]Succeed in spite of the false friends and true enemies it brings.[/li][li]Though quickly forgotten, Do good.[/li][li]Be honest even though frankness makes you vulnerable.[/li][li]Think big, pay no mind to being shot down by the small minded [/li][li]Fight for the underdog while others follow the top dog[/li][li]Destruction can come in a moment, but keep building.[/li][li]Give help, even if you’re attacked for it.[/li][li]Give your best, even if it means getting your teeth kick in.[/ol]Granted, they’re not the most enlightening thoughts ever documented, but they’re all rooted in perseverance based on a kind of folky common sense. In my opinion, they’re even a little easier to live by than the orignals (OK, I have a tough time refraining from uttering the occasional God damn and haven’t been able to conquer that whole thou shalt not covet thing).[/li]
Question: Why do we decimilize the lists & things in the first place? I say to hell with the nice even number of ten commandments.

What would YOU add?

My nomination:
In order to accept or love anyone you must love & accept yourself first.

Unenlightened and or humorous nominations are welcome too But I’ll be damned if I’m gonna be commanded to tell some self-adoring doper how wonderful they are

  1. Try to be civil to jerks and nasty people. They don’t expect it, and they may treat you nicely for it. Besides, you don’t want an experienced nasty jerk for an enemy.

  2. Carrying grudges is really hard work with few rewards.
