What would you do if there were no Internet?

How would you spend your time? How much time do you spend on the net? How much on the SDMB? Would you be more useful, or merely replace the time with another quotidian event?

Actually get things done…

OMG!!!

Bite your tongue boy!

Well see my post count? I’ve only been here since last Friday

Does that give you a clue? LOL

I love the internet and email. It’s a sickness…

but if I didn’t have it, I’d probably have a cleaner house, and dinner ready every night on time…oh well, they’ll get over it

I’d be forced to make tons of phone calls and wait for stuff via snail mail, and then…

I’d have no excuse to not get outside and cut the grass :o

Stand out in the yard and yell opinions at random passing strangers, who would look at me strangly and not reply, just like here.

Actually, I’d do what I did before there was an internet, pursue my other hobbies, read, build things, etc. I still do those things, just not quite as much.

One thing we don’t do as much any more is have friends over to play cards and just generally BS. I kinda worry sometimes that our ability to reach out to people electronically now is supplanting personal interaction.

I’d probably read books more, and have cable TV instead.

Oh, I suppose I might make myself a little more useful with the cooking and cleaning and whatnot.

I’d guess I’m online 1-2 hours a day on weekdays, 3 or maybe more on weekends.

Back to the BBSs for me.

I’d read more, probably go back to the boredom that is TV. Bemoan my lonely fate a lot more.

I’d look at a lot less porn.

I spend WAY too much time on the Net. So I’d probably read a lot more than I do, for one thing. Probably call my friends more often, too.

F_X

It’s my job.

I’m online at work for 8-10 hours a day. Add a few more at home at night and weekends.

ROTFLOL!
Please quit making me laugh. I am trying to concentrate on this thread…
Now, where was I…oh yeah,…no internet question…
Okay.
I got my thoughts cohesived…
I would probably read
Triumph of the Straight Dope for the millionth time wondering still when Cecil and Ed will publish the next SD book (before I die I hope,
HELLO???)

I wouldn’t have a job.

Monday: Pull the legs off spiders.

Tuesday: Kill a fluffy little kitten.

Wednesday: Kill a fluffy little puppy.

Thursday: Order pizza. Kill pizza delivery fella. Eat pizza.

Friday: Bury pizza delivery fella in back garden. Kill a puppy.

Saturday: Go shopping. Kill everybody who gets in my damn way. Go home and read newspapers. Wonder why there’s a helicopter hovering outside house.

Sunday: Major unpleasantness with several armed police officers. Go to hospital.

I’d write more plays and read more books, just as I used to do before there was internet. (the internet? an internet? “before there was internet” sounds wrong somehow but I can’t seem to fix it. oh well.)

However, I’d also have less connection with my friends in the US, and I’d be forced to live without old navy clothes, books in english, jelly belly jelly beans, cheap cds, and many of the other things I can’t get in Japan and rely on the internet to bring me.

I tend to agree with the assertion that in general we are losing some of interpersonal communication skills due to the fact that some of this interaction is being replaced with electronic interactions.

Kal, you have me slightly concerned. Don’t you think you should kill the pizza guy on Monday, that way if you get busted, at least you get a free pie?

I know that when I have to look up names & spellings & things for my job, I’d have to go back to bugging the poor reference librarians over the phone again. I bet they are SO glad the internet was invented, just to get the court reporters off their backs.

I remember my pre-internet days. I’ve been there, done that. Don’t wanna do it again. Yes, I’d read more and do more crafts. But my house would still be a mess, I’d just have other ways of ignoring it.

I would rock back and forth in the corner, sobbing and grinding my teeth.

Seriously? Probably do what I did before I got a computer in 95 and got online.

Build plastic models. Mostly aircraft in 1/48. I just started one for the first time in years last weekend. God, its awful.

I spend WAY too much time on the internet. What would I do if there was no internet? Hum… probably have revised more for my exams.
