Finish packing. I’m moving in a few weeks and I’d love having a whole day to myself to sort through the junk still laying around and either pack it up or toss it out.
Varies a lot… run the kind of errands that have to be done during office hours, go to the supermarket (I like going when it’s emptyish), go for a walk, drop by a bookstore or game store, go for a drive.
If my boss made me commute for one hour and once there told me to go home, I’d bill for two hours They have my cellphone’s number.
**What would you do if you suddenly got the day off from work? **
The same thing we do every day Pinky. Try to take over the world !
Mmm…get on the train and head for the city.
Stop by the bookstore, then across the street to people watch at the cafe.
Then on the bus to Circular Key, and enjoy being there mid-day non-weekend, and maybe a wander around the Rocks.
Alternately, skip the above and go to either Taronga Zoo, Watson’s Bay (seafood, yum!) or Luna Park.
Cheers,
G
I do very little, I just do it really slowly.
I take a long nap, I read a book for a few chapters (or a whole chapter, depending on what sort of book it is) watch a film on TV (tip, in the UK, C4 shows some nice black and white films afternoons) eat lunch slowly…
Assuming the weather is nice, I’d make a big pitcher of Margaritas, grab my towel and a book and lay by the pool. Around noon I’d make some guacamole and have it for lunch with some home-made salsa and chips. After replenishing the margarita pitcher, I’d head back to the pool and shift the chair to follow the sun. A little more reading, or perhaps flop onto a float and paddle around the pool for a bit. About 5:00 I’d wrap that up, grab a shower, and head in to make dinner. A nice grilled jerk chicken salad would sit well - I think I’ll make that. A cold beer or two will help that go down.
Some TV, Susan gets home from work about 9:00 and then to bed by 10:30. We’re both off tomorrow for my birthday and heading to a resort.
Spend the day in my woodshop. There’s always something that needs building!
-Off to the driving range … or get in at least nine holes of golf.
-Shop for some new scuba fins.
-And do that grunt work in the basement that I’ve been putting off for the longest time.
Interesting thread!
If the day off were today, I’d:[ul][li]Return the Palm Z22 I bought on Monday and get a Palm T|X instead (I’ll be doing this either at lunch or after work today).[/li][li]Go to the grocery store (which I also hope to do after work today).[/li][li]I happen to have lunch plans today, but on any other day I’d see if my boyfriend wanted to meet me somewhere.[/li][li]Go home and weed-whack the backyard.[/li][li]Finish cleaning up my computer room.[/li][li]Finally swap out my winter clothes (which are in the closets) for my summer clothes (which are partly still in storage), and do a wardrobe purge while I’m at it.[/li][li]Become one with my couch and catch up on some TiVo viewing.[/ul][/li]Man, now I want to go home.
Laundry, dishes, sleep.
Well, if I had already driven in, I’d shop, then have lunch, and then maybe head home for a nap.
If I hadn’t driven in, I’d sleep late, clean house, read a book and play with my kitties. Maybe do some crafting.
Do some kayaking.
Study–I’m a full-time student as well as employee right now. And I have a test tonight.
I’d probably sleep a little too, though. And maybe make a nice meal for myself.
Depends on what kind of day.
If it’s one of the 4 - 3 or the 7 - 5 days, back to sleep, then get up 3 or 4 hours later and do what I originally would have done after I’d gotten off for real. Laundry or grocery shopping or housework.
One of the 9 - 7 or 11 - 12 days, I’d take the early afternoon to do the chores and go to bed early.
I don’t sleep enough, you see.
I’d sleep til 10ish, head to the beach for a couple of hours with a book and my iPod. Come home, shower, head to Jamba Juice for lunch and hang at Panera with my laptop reading the Dope and chatting with my grandmother at work. Go home, take a nap, wake up, go to the gym for an hour, catch a movie or scrabble game with a friend, read some more, then fall into bed sometime after midnight.
Pretty much my life this past week. I gave notice at my job, and they let me go early. I’m waiting to hear about a position…hope I get it (wish me luck)! Starting Monday I’ll have to start do some actual job hunting.
In nice weather, I’d call in for a tee time (It’s typically very easy for a single to get squeezed in on late notice.)
In not so nice weather, I’d come home to play video games and sew.
