Whatcha getting your SO for Christmas?

I’m getting an i-Pod Nano for him. He’s been talking about it. I’ll probably get a couple of other small gifts too.

You might also want to consider a plastic bag with miniature marshmallows in it with the note:

You’ve been bad
So here’s the scoop.
All you get
Is snowman poop.

Their international shipping fees make me twitch.

MarioKart for the Wii also sounds like an option. We only have two games currently so it’s probably time to get another. :smack:

She wants a jewelry box and an matching earring/pendant set of pearls.

Jewelry Box: 20 dollars.
Earring pendant pearl set from Walmart: 50 dollars.
Knowing your wife has no clue about how to judge pearl quality: priceless.

He’s done quite a few things lately, but the thing I’m maddest about is that HE THREW AWAY SOME OF MY GRANDFATHER’S BOOKS! He’s thrown away Grandpa’s books before, I just unearthed some more, which aren’t in the greatest of shape, but these books remind me of the happy times I had with Grandpa. And Bill threw them out, I came home to find them in boxes by the street, soaked so that they really can’t be salvaged now. Bill doesn’t just deserve coal, he deserves a switch (old implement for spanking children, sometimes left in stockings). Bill KNOWS that I’m emotionally attached to Grandpa’s books, and he’s promised not to throw them away before. And yet he does it anyway.

Not the RV, but he’s been spending a lot of money on his farm and its accessories…and he’s losing a lot of money on that farm because he won’t lease it, he can’t farm it himself, and the government considers it (properly so) as a purely recreational area. He can’t write it off on his taxes. If he’d lease it out, he could make money on it, but he doesn’t want the leasing to interfere with his hunting…and it wouldn’t, really, if he would lease it under certain circumstances (he could get someone to plant and harvest pecans, for instance). I’ve offered to interview people, take care of all the legal paperwork, etc., but he doesn’t want anyone on his farm, and he doesn’t want to do anything with it, either. We aren’t hurting for money…but I’ve got serious health issues, and he’s not in great shape, either. We don’t need to absolutely hemmorhage money just so he can spend about 10 days out of the year to hunt on that farm. And that really is all the time he spends hunting, I’ve added it up.

We give each other lots of things, but the interesting one this year is an Internet radio player. She listens to a Philadelphia college station obsessively when working on her PC (she listened on the air when we lived in NJ) but not she can listen while cooking or any time.

I’ll definitely look for those! That’s a cute idea, thanks.

D-oh! I linked to the Dutch page. Actually, they’re an American company, and they often advertise with “free shipping”. Here’s the USA branch: www.allposters.com

You may also want to consider picking up one or two of these. I found MarioKart to be a lot more fun using these instead of the wheel.

And Maastricht - Haze is in South Korea (I think :))

We’ve got a 5 week old baby, so I’ve bought Boy from Mars a new camcorder so that we can record all her precious moments, in the hopes of getting something to truly embarrass her at her 21st…

And also a wine glass drying stand - he’s got some Schott and Riedel glasses which I am convinced I will knock off the drying rack - this should do the trick.

My boyfriend and I both love Express, so I’m getting him a white button-down and a blue v-neck sweater to go with it. The button-down is a replacement: he had one, but I accidentally ruined it in the washing machine. I might also get him another pair of jeans; he only has two pairs, total, and I don’t want him wearing them out so quickly.

I suspect he’s getting me a pencil skirt and a sweater. I’ve been jonesing for them for awhile. He wants to get me another present too, because he doesn’t think it’s enough. I told him he didn’t have to do that, but he probably will anyway. One thing I absolutely DON’T want, though, is a necklace. Every single guy I’ve ever dated has given me a necklace as a Christmas gift, and I just want something different. Something other than jewelry, at any rate.

The hint we gave each other? “Don’t buy anything from Express.”

I still have no idea.

One of my plans is to burn him a disc of songs. I did this several years ago (and he loved it), but I feel like we’ve entered a different era of our relationship, and I wanted to chose songs that reflect that. I plan to call it, ‘‘Love in the Time of Grad School.’’

I’ll get him something else too, but I’m kind of clueless at the moment.

My Wife is a triathlete/Iron Man and has a tough time training in the winter. It’s snow on the ground here 6 months out of the year.

I bought her a CompuTrainer for her bike training.

It’s basically a virtual reality setup that you hook up to your bike. Or ride ‘real’ (recorded) races.

Had to build a computer for it as well. That will be wrapped up separately.

It’s a bit over the top. And we don’t usually do big gifts like this, but it will help her a great deal (and I can’t wait to see the look on her face).

Maiira, I love pencil skirts! Any idea what kind he’ll buy you? I love the ones with a little flair at the bottom.

I got my husband an Xbox gold card 12-month subscription thingy. You can tell how much I know about this. Luckily my brother-in-law knows exactly what he wants, so I’ll be able to get the right thing and it’ll actually be a surprise.

I got her a Kindle. She’s already got it, because I wanted to make sure she got it in time for Festivus, and I figured Amazon would run low if I waited too much longer. She loves, loves, LOVES it so far.
We’re doing our actual gift exchange in February when I get back from Iraq, and there will probably be a few more little goodies. I’m bookmarking this thread for ideas.

Probably just something simple like this. I like the front slit. And he refuses to buy me anything that goes below the knee.

Update on my own situation - we ended up spontaneously buying a PS3 for ourselves this weekend, and decided that would be our Christmas present to each other this year. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll still get him a small present, like a few t-shirts and a book or something.

I so want to see his handywork!

I just got my picks in, very cool. Im getting the wife a nice watch (requested) and i was lucky enough to get a 1.79 caret Blue Topaz on the 'net which I put into a nice pendant with chain. And a matching one for our new granddaughter! I have a 1930’s tissot watch in the shop getting refurbed for her but it wont be ready for christmas.
She is getting me a Seiko SKX009k watch for my collection, i cant wait!

Mine’s getting a Sonic Screwdriver!
