So I’ve been reading rumors about this for months now, and supposedly it was going to be announced on Apple’s 30th anniversary. That was two days ago and no word. Is this anywhere close to legit? I’m thinking that it’s a great idea in theory, but with a screen that large, it seems like it would have to have a battery life of less than 20 minutes. Has anybody else heard anything about this? Should I wait for it, or wait for the Toshiba Gigabeat S-series instead?
I think I’m allowed one bump, but I’m guessing that nobody has heard anything about this. Oh well… time to die a graceful death.
There’s an article about it on DIGG, but it has a warning that says the content is being investigated. The comments are very sceptical.

The rumors seem to be hotter that Apple has a basic design and is shopping for a manufacturer for an iPod phone. Try Digg for more info/rumor.
Eh, an iPod phone. What’s the point? Their last one wasn’t exactly inspired (I know, Motorola’s fault), and the only benefit I can see is that it would play iTunes downloads.
A Mac-head friend of mine showed me this “device” 2 months ago, then updated me not long after that it turned out to be a hoax.
Some guy released what was supposed to be a snapshot of one at a manufacturing facility. but then later released a .mov showing exactly how he made it in Photoshop.
Also, if your post was April 3, and it was supposed to have been announce “2 days ago”, that makes it April 1st, no?

True, April 1st is April Fool’s Day, but it’s also Apple’s 30th anniversary. That’s why they figured it might come out around then since it’s a big day. I saw that movie before - it’s actually pretty impressive how he made it.
