chowder, Michael Brown was the head of FEMA (the government agency responsible for disaster preparedness and response) when Hurricane Katrina hit, and was an exemplary model of lethal inefficiency in American bureaucracy.
Jill Whelan also appeared in a show called “Friends”, in 1979!
This show is about three eleven year old friends, Randy, Nancy, and Pete growing up in a small California town, dealing with the typical problems of a '70s adolescent.
Produced by Aaron Spelling, this show was canceled after five episodes.
OK, I have NEVER heard of this show…anyone else? Have there been any other completely different shows using the same name? How is this allowed? Wow, sorry for the hijack!
I could swear I saw him being interviewed on one of the cable channels the other day as I was flipping through the channels. I’m guessing it had something to do with Hurricane Ike but I didn’t stop long enough to find out.
Here’s someone I thought about recently: Tim Conway. He was a reasonably big actor for a long time and won an Emmy, but nobody hears about him today.
(I’ll spoil things, though: He voices Barnacle Boy alongside Ernest Borgnine’s Mermaid Man on SpongeBob SquarePants. Interesting to have two faded stars working as a comedic pair on a kid’s show.)
:: mental image of a rigged individual selflessly guarding a mighty repository ::
:: two people toil up the almost-endless steps leading to the front door, and genuflect in front of the guardian ::
:: “I am the Steward of the Cheeses. It is my sacred duty to keep the cheeses from harm. What do you wish of me?” ::
:: “Please, sir, could we have some Casu Marzu?” ::

:: the supplicants start to back away as the Steward’s face reddens with anger ::
*lightning hits the stone patio in front of the supplicants, hurling them back down the steps *

Recently I found myself wondering what ever became of Rhonda Shear, the ditsy, funny, gorgeous gal who used to host the “Up All Night” Friday block of programming on the USA cable network. I learned that Rhonda is now in the women’s undergarment business. I bought two of Rhonda’s leisure bras, and they are great. As I had hoped, they keep my chestworks up all night.
I just barely missed Michael Richards’s surprise appearance at a comedy show in Hollywood I showed up late to, about a month before his famous tirade, so I paid pretty close attention to the whole ordeal. IIRC, the victims of his tirade sued him, and the judge sentenced Richards to apologize publicly and privately, thoroughly explaining his motivations (privately) and begging forgiveness (privately). Apparently, all parties involved were satisfied with this result. I’m pretty sure Richards went back to stand-up comedy, presumably after taking some anger management classes!
ETA: Also, Mel Gibson released another movie last year, called Apocalyptica or something.
I know that Sara Gilbert(Darlene) has been working pretty much non-stop since “Roseanne” days. I see her in stuff all the time. I think she might still be on “ER” in fact.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but yes I do remember this series.
Well here’s my offhand suggestions - where are…
-Oliver North
-Tawana Brawley
-the little girl who fell down in the well (what was her name?)
-Michael & Kitty Dukakis
-Bernie Goetz
-Bob Geldof
-Sade
-Irene Cara
-the Pointer Sisters
-Oliver North - most recently wrote a book, has been a cable news commentator.
-Tawana Brawley - Changed her name upon converting to Islam, still stands by her story.
-the little girl who fell down in the well (Jessica McClure) - Now married, set to receive a $1mil+ trust fund from well-wisher donations when she turns 25 (in 2011).
-Michael & Kitty Dukakis - Apparently now into grassroots campaigning for other Dems.
-Bernie Goetz - Now a Family Guy punchline.
-Bob Geldof - Is still keeping on keeping on, I guess.
-Sade - Not much
-Irene Cara - Hard at work editing her Wikipedia page making lame celebreality appearances look like “never stops working.”
-the Pointer Sisters - Feuding about death.
I saw him, too, on Fox News (where else?) I had to stop and watch because I couldn’t believe even Fox news would look to Michael Brown for expert commentary on a hurricane.
