What's a cool thing about you?

Let’s take your kids, partner etc out of the running please :slightly_smiling_face:… what is something that you think is cool about you? Something most people don’t know, but is a little cool?

For me… I’ve competed in a World Championships (and was best finisher from my country). Pretty much nobody knows that… or cares these days!

Yours?

I received a national award in one of my fields, but most people don’t even know what my field was now that I’m retired and not hanging with others in that profession.

For one summer in college, I dabbled in boxing, and fought in one fight at a sports bar (that had a boxing ring and regularly held fights as entertainment). I won by TKO in the 2nd round.

I’m from Alaska. Everyone thinks that’s really cool for some reason.

When I was 9 years old, and aspiring to be a television meteorologist, I had been watching the weather report on the noon news, and noted that there was a difference in conditions between downtown Chicago and the western suburbs, where I lived. “There’s going to be a tornado,” I told my mother.

A couple of hours later, a small tornado indeed formed, much to the surprise of the actual television meteorologists. But I’d predicted it!

In 1970, I briefly held the title of Youngest Person on Earth.

I have music perfect pitch and can typically play at least the first 1-2 pages of most pieces by ear after having heard it a few times.

What instrument?

Piano.

A photo of mine was included in the program book for The Who Hits 50! tour.

I’ve lived in two different cities when they each hosted the Summer Olympics.

uh, nm.

I’m a photographer, so I’ve had some interesting photo credits in publications of over a million circulation, but the most oddball thing for me is that I was in an episode of Check Please! here in Chicago. Check Please is a PBS show where three reviewers nominate a restaurant, visit each other’s nominations, and then chat about their experience. It’s kind of an interesting experiment in group dynamics in addition to being an informative show about local dining. For a few weeks after the episode aired, I actually had a couple of people recognize me, which was an odd feeling, as I generally like being behind a camera, not in front of it.

I’m going to guess Los Angeles and Tokyo.

I met my ex husband on a ferry boat in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

No, actually Montreal and Los Angeles.

.5 Fast, as usual.

Make sure you don’t tell anyone specifics. It keeps things more engaging. People just love to tell how great they are vis a vis to others on the internet.

I’m still alive.

Well, I think it’s pretty cool.

And so do we! At least the ones of us who count.
