What's a girl got to do to subscribe around here?

This is my first Pit thread. Please excuse the lameness and unranty nature of it.

I (and several others) have posted to ATMB that we are getting an error message when we click on the credit card button to subscribe. None of us appear to have had a reply from a mod, nor has my related thread requesting TubaDiva’s help gotten a reply (the board won’t let me e-mail directly), nor my e-mail to the webmaster. I know this is a small nuisance in the grand scheme of things, but it’s not a great advertisement for the quality of customer service for this subscription. I don’t care if the answer is “we are busy and will get back to you as soon as we can” or “we don’t know and are working on it”–a reply in some form by the next day doesn’t seem like an unreasonable expectation.

Good question. What browser/OS are you using? Maybe it’s a browser error.

Uh… I don’t know exactly what you mean by “the board won’t let me e-mail directly” but you can e-mail her at TubaDiva@aol.com and the board won’t have much to say about it…

Shoshana, xash suggests it might be a browser problem.

Yeah. Common problem with browsers that can’t handle the security encription on the page.

There’s also the IE bug discussed a while back here. It could easily be because of that.

Patch your IE. Or better still, (yeah, yeah, I know people get annoyed about this recomendation, but it’s still the best solution) use a better web browser.

Hmmm. Well I was one of the ones who tried subscribing and kept getting error messages.

I cleared my cache/cookies/temp files. I used two different credit cards, one a debit/VISA card, the other a straight VISA. As I said there, the debit card has worked for Ezyboard and Amazon, so I wouldn’t have thought there was any reason for it not to work here.

I use Mozilla, but I fired up IE and tried that as well. Still the message about not being able to process my card.

In the end I decided the board didn’t like Australian money and gave up. Until recently I posted so rarely I figure going back to read-only won’t be such hardship.

blackhobyah, what are the error messages you receive ? Is it errors with the browsers or only errors with processing your payment ?

Do you have a regular credit card ? Perhaps your card is one of those that are not recognized correctly by the payment gateway. If you email me, or post here, the type of card you are using I could get that checked for you.

We have been deluged with complaints and errors since the switch, and my apologies that we couldn’t answer your questions more swiftly.

Alternately, you could request one of the Australian dopers in this thread to sign you up and you could reimburse them in cash, cheque or money order. Some may even do it for nothing.

The board has no problem with my Australian money. If you like, email me and I can arrange to pay for you.

Just an idea, but I wonder if the problem may be that some banks require the security code off the back of the card for international transactions. The few international internet transactions that I have made have required the code. Even some domestic sites are requiring the number now as well.

The security code is the last three digits of the number printed on the signature strip. XXXX SSS where “XXXX” is the last four digits of the card number and “SSS” is the security code.

I mean that when I’d click on her link to e-mail her, the board would say that I wasn’t authorized to do so.

Thanks for the suggestions. Nothing worked on my home computer, but I was able to go elsewhere and successfully transact.

This thread can be closed. Thanks.

As you wish.
