I already have accounts on iWin, BigFish and SpinTop.
I am pretty addicted to hidden object and match-3 type games, but a lot of the sites only give you the 60 minute trial. Then you have to buy - and I HAVE bought a few in the past, but I was just wondering if there was a site out there that I can download the full versions of these kind of games for free?
Figured this would be the best place to go to ask, since Google really isn’t being helpful.
I know of two sites that let you play full games with advertising. They have good points and bad points.
The main bad point is that they don’t have the most recent games. Still, I’ve found quite a few good games.
Most Fun Games allows you to play when you’re offline. There are ads between levels, and sometimes a small ad shows up when you’re playing. That can be annoying, but it’s worth it to me to save money.
I find Free Ride Games a little annoying. You must be online to play, and there’s a frame of ads surrounding your game. Also, if you play for an extremely long time, it will end your session. You can immediately restart, but it’s annoying.
Free Ride Games, however, seems to have more recent games, such as Build-A-Lot 3 and Virtual Villagers 3.
A quick note to anyone on dial-up - I can’t get any of these games to download over dial-up, the game manager times out. However, if I download at my brother’s house, the games play fine when I’m at home. The ads often don’t load properly, but after a while a tiny “x” will appear in the corner to let you close the ad box.
My dad is addicted to hiddenobject games, too. I found a few free websites where you can play them online for free, and even a few free full games you can download. He’s let me (remotely) take over his computer for a minute, so I can give you the few sites I found.
I’d say Newgrounds is a safe bet, since almost every flash game on the internet seems to be released there first (or else simultaneously with the other sites). Not sure on that specific genre, but I’m sure you’ll find a good number if you browse their archive.
All three sites allow you to have free accounts, none require it. MoFunZone and Kongregate add separate achievements that you can earn to some of the games; those that you earn are saved to your account if you have one. Kongregate has a site-wide points system where you earn points by completing achievements. Eventually, you can use those points to buy powerups & etc in games, and tip your favorite developments.
