I bought a
rose to give to you
A windy day, the pettles flew
From the stem onto the street
I tried to catch them with my feet
I got to your door, you looked to see
Through the peep-hole right at me
You let me in and I just froze
I gave you a stem, that was a rose
Was a rose, was a rose
It alternates between ‘Lil Bow Wow (“Bow wow wow, Yippie yo yippie yay. Where my dogs at”), Shaggy ("Picture this, we were both butt naked, bangin’ on the bathroom floor. How could I forget that I had given her an extra key. All the time she was standin’ there, she never took her eyes off me."), and Ludacris (“I wanna li-li-li-lick you from your head to your toes. And I wanna move from the bed down to the down to the to the flo’. I wanna ah, ah. You make it so good I don’t wanna leave, but I gotta kn-kn-kn-know what’s your fantasy”).
OK, so I don’t have great taste in music. What can I say?
Pishaw. What I wouldn’t give to have a song for adults bouncing around my skull. For the last four days I have been humming Raffi’s “Down By the Bay” at work. Come on, everybody sing if you know the words!
Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
Did you ever see a Bear
Combing his hair
Down by the bay…
Yeah, and thanks to that fargin Rudolph thread over in GQ I’ve got Lavender’s Blue (Dilly Dilly) crowding my cranium. Damn that 100 Greatest Kids Songs CD.
It’s been the theme from Battlestar Galactaca for weeks now. Mostly the horns at the beginning. It’s probably been more than 10 years since I’ve actually heard it. I cannot imagine what it was that started me on this one, I just woke up one day and there it was.
I love that song! I’ve been hearing “Sorry Miss Jackson” by Outkast (one of my favorite rappers) a lot lately, but the only part I ever remember is where he goes, “For-ever? For-ever, ever, for-ever, ever, ever?” and his voice gets really high. Now that’s annoying.
I’ve been slandered
Libeled
I’ve heard words I never read in the Bible
But I’m one step ahead of a shoeshine
Two steps ahead of the county line
And I’m trying to keep my customers satisfied
Satisfied…
You’re getting closer
to pushing me off of life’s little ledge
Cause I’m a loser
and sooner or later you know I’ll be dead
You’re getting closer
to holding me up and taking a fall
Cause I’m a loser
Yeah I’m a loserrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I hate to admit this, but … it’s the theme song to Moesha. I don’t watch the show, but it comes on after something else, and I usually hear the theme song from another room. I have no idea what the lyrics are, but it goes something like …
“Mo-sha-va … eee-sha-va”
Repeat about ten or fifteen times. I don’t get it either.
Well mine isn’t a song per se but equally as catchy. I think it came from a Simpsons episode. I seem to remember it came from a TV fake-Barney (the purple dinosaur, not the drunk) character. He just repeats the phrase “2 + 2 is 4.” The voice and the fact that repeating it gets funnier and funnier is pretty good. Try saying it yourself (in a dumb voice, obviously) and you’ll see why its so great. Maybe…
The following songs have been alternating in my head:
(1) There’s a Hole in the Bucket
(2) The Lion Sleeps Tonight
(3) Slow As Christmas
and (4) Take Me Home, Country Road (people at work torment me by mentioning West Virginia specifically to put this song in my head)
Didn’t have anything stuck in my head until I read #3 from Kat’s list. Now the Nylon’s rendition of it is swirling about my mush melon and won’t go away.
For the holidays, “Jingle Bell Rock”. It’s not so bad at first. Heck, it even gets you in that festive holiday mood, wanting to go about decking the halls and such. About thirty minutes later it begins to get on your nerves. Couple of hours and you’re frantically humming “Don’t Worry Be Happy” to get your mind off of it. By the end of the day you’re ready to strangle Santa and barbecue his reindeer. (Mmmmmm. . . venison. . .)
Hmm I’ve had “Be Quiet and Drive” by Deftones in my head for about a week… mostly because ::hijack imminent:: A WEEK AGO I SAW THEM LIVE WITH INCUBUS AND TAPROOT!! God was that a beautiful concert. Poor sk8rixtx missed it
[sub]Ouch, damnit, that hurt! Fine, fine, I’ll shut up![/sub]
My nine-year-old son likes to listen to oldies sometimes, and he was singing:
“Who put the bop
in the bop shu bop shu bop?
Who put the ding
in the rama lama ding dong?
Who was that man?
I’d like to shake his hand–
he made my baby fall in love with me.”
It’s sheer torment to have that little ditty playing endlessly in one’s head. AAAAAAAAAAAAggghhhhh! I can’t seem to rid myself of it.
