What's everyone playing? (video games)

Just curious what everyone’s currently playing, and what you think of it.

I’m playing Tales of Vesperia (xbox 360) right now, so far it’s pretty good but a bit slow and stereotypical, nothing terribly special from what i’ve seen.

I also have Skate 2 (x360) at home, haven’t had a chance to start it up yet, though

Still playing Fallout 3 for the 360.

Haven’t really been playing the Xbox much. Picked up Medieval Total War 2 the other day, and between that and Combat Arms, I’m covered. At least for now.

ooh, medieval total war 2 was a great game, should load that one back on my computer maybe =)

Mostly Left4dead on PC

Just finished Tales of Symphonia II (Wii) and am currently messing around with Dokapon Kingdom (Wii). I have a story game I started with my wife but she doesn’t seem too interested so I’m trying out some of their game scenarios by myself.

Dwarf Fortress. My glacier fortress is progressing nicely; I just need to get the water I melted with magma into my farm plot so I can actually grow food instead of buying it all and hunting ice wolves (my stupid hunter ran out of bolts and decided to whack them with his crossbow in melee). If you’re not familiar with Dwarf Fortress, know that it is extremely awesome and extremely intricate. For your own good, please Google “Boatmurdered”. You will not regret it.

I’m kind of in a dead zone for games right now. I was waiting for Dawn of War 2, but I played the Beta and it left a really bad taste in my mouth, but I can’t put my finger on why.

I was playing Banjo-Kazooie (XBLA version) and ~:Nuts and Bolts, but I haven’t had a chance to set up my 360 at home after I moved back to go to a different college so I could play those, if I get up and hook the machine up.

TF2 is primarily what I play, when I’ve got rare time for it.

I finished Tomb Raider: Underworld not long before we moved. It left me happy and sad. Happy: The control scheme worked well, I felt comfortable playing & got on pretty well. Also, they got rid of those stupid quick-time events that were essential in finishing boss fights in TR: Anniversary (which I still haven’t finished & makes me sad). Sad: No boss fights at all. Everything’s standard mobs. And the game is pretty short. But it’s pretty.

I also downloaded the Open Beta for DoW 2. I really need to play the single player campaign mode before I can say if I’m happy with it or not. But, TYRANIDS! I’ve been waiting for the chance to play bugs for YEEEARS.

I’ve been playing DF long enough that ice fortressing is one of those things i’ve been thinking of trying, but it seems far to tricky for me.

I’ve been playing Valkyria Chronicles, which is excellent fun, and a bit of City of Heroes.

I’m playing Luminous Arc on the DS right now. Pretty enjoyable so far.

Ditto.

I also manually installed my old FO1 and FO2 CD’s on my 6 year old XP machine and have been replaying FO1.

Well, since my PS3’s disc drive stopped working (it’s sitting in a box waiting to be shipped away for repairs), I’ve been playing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Yea, so what if it came out the summer of 2003? Nothing like playing the custom map Defense of the Ancients. That shit is addicting. Whenever my friends catch me playing WCIII, they always ask, “Are you playing that World of Warcraft game or whatever?” I just laugh and call them n0obz.

I’m playing Persona 4 on the PS2 and The World Ends With You on the DS.

A shorter list might be what I’m NOT playing.

NWN 2, Left 4 Dead, Medieval II: Total War, Fallout 3, Peggle Nights, Grid, Flight Sim X, Sins of a solar Empire: Entrenched.

And yet I manage to squeeze in quality time with my SO, school AND work. I wonder how long I can keep this up.

Left 4 Dead on Xbox 360. Just finished The Maw, and before that Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

Let’s see… I’m wrapping up Persona 4 but because it takes so much time to do things and has a bad tendency to slip into hour long chunks where you cannot save without warning I’m only playing on the weekends. I expect to finish in my next session.

For playing during the week I’ve got Sam and Max Season 1 for the Wii. I’m about half finished with it at this point having played three of the six episodes.

On my DS I’ve been playing Rocket Slime which has been an enjoyable but slight game.

When I didn’t have power for a week I got a lot of games of Pillars of the Earth in.

I don’t have anything in particular in mind when when I finish these up. What do you think of Dokapon Kingdom, Wolverine? I’m a bit intrigued but I’m concerned that the “board game” aspects won’t really be well designed since most video game designers think of board games as just roll-and-move.

Guitar Hero: World Tour and Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s on PS2. The latter was really disappointing- I almost creamed my jeans when I saw the band listing, but they chose really, really shitty tracks.

I’m also playing through Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II on my PC, this time as a non-combat-centered bad guy. There’s something really viscerally satisfying about slaughtering a dozen hapless bounty hunters with two bursts of Force Storm.

I think I’ve played well over half the games mentioned thus far, so let’s see…

Beat Tales of Vesperia and Valkyria Chronicles not so long ago, but I’m now working on Ar tonelico II. I bought it, and I’m now waiting for the Undub version to download since it fixed the game crash issue(sad, isn’t it?)

Great game, but NISA really messed up on localization and QA. Game freezing bugs that weren’t in the Japanese version? An intro sequence that, oopsie, doesn’t have SOUND when you try to play it with digital out? Clumsy sentences I can deal with, but the frequent dialog box that’s still in kana and kanji seems like a major blunder.

I’m also right at the end of Persona 4. I’ll probably finish that after Ar tonelico 2. Then finish off Fable II.

And, whenever I happen to sit at the computer for too long, I get sucked into Dwarf Fortress.

Guitar Hero on PS2. I’ve just started working through the series. I’m also trying to finish a season on All-Madden in Madden '06. I’m not sure which takes more concentration.

Also, I’m very close to re-installing Starcraft on my PC.

What can I say? I’d much rather wait and get a game for $10 used…I just got the PS2 in November '07
