What's fun to do in North Carolina?

I’m travelling to Fayetteville soon. Anybody from there? Which beach is the closest and best? Best restaurants, shops?

Anyone know of a place around there that sells cool vintage posters or import cds?

Many thanks,
bwk

Go to Wilmington. They got yer beaches and import places (around UNC-W). Don’t know much about Fayetteville.

As for “What’s fun”, well…dove season opens on, what, Sept. 1? The saturday of labor-day weekend, whatever day that is. It’s gonna be a massacre…just like every year.

Pick you up a shotgun and head into the nearest cut cornfield.

I’m not sure what you are interested in, but there’s a little town about 30-45 minutes from Fayetteville, called Cameron, loaded with lots of oldie but goodie items. I live about 25 minutes from Fayetteville. Depends on what you are looking for in a beach. If you want the family type atmosphere then you can just head to Carolina Beach outside of Wilmington. If you want the ‘crowd and hip places’ then you’d want to head to Myrtle Beach in SC, which is about 2-3 hours from Fayetteville. The Outer Banks are absolutely fantastic. Lots of natural coastline and wetlands still left.
If you are into zoos, we have the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, which is about 500 acres of natural habitat. It’s pretty amazing.
The mountains are about 4-5 hours away, plenty to see and do there also. Casino in Cherokee, lots of natural wonders to see, etc.
The state has pretty much anything you’d want to do. Carowinds, outside of Charlotte is a pretty big amusement type deal.
You are only about an hour away from the state capitol of Raleigh, which offers just about any entertainment that you’d want.
Feel free to email me and I’ll help you out all I can.

I would also invite you to take a leisurely stroll down I-95 to the South of the Border resort. Take a ride in Pedro’s had to view the incredible vistas of the soybean fields of Dillon County, SC. (BTW, the guy who created SOTB died just a week or so ago.)
