What's goin' on in San Francisco in May?

I’m going to be making a trip out there sometime in May; but the date has yet to be determined. I’ve been told to let them know when is a good date for me to come out for an interview. I’d like to time my trip to coincide with something fun happening while I’m there.

So what’s going in May?

The first thing I think of is Bay to Breakers. A 12K run through the city the third Sunday in May. It’s high on my list of things to do one of these years, but not this year, as I’ll be in Vegas with my husband for a WoW guild meeting that weekend. Well that, and I haven’t really been running much the past year or so.

But it’s supposed to be fun to watch too. Naked people, costumed people, and lots of tortillas flying about.

Anything that involves nudity and flying tortillas is definitely must see!

It is quite an event. It leads off with the serious runners. Someone from Kenya always seems to win that part. Yawn. The real fun is the people in it for the fun, rather than the run - it seems to get wackier every year.

No offense, but I can’t wrap my mind around how somebody who would go to Vegas for a WoW guild meeting actually married. I mean I can understand passion for something you do, but he does realize it’s a computer game, no? Even chess clubs don’t have meetings in Vegas unless there is an actual tournament (something that is meant to be done virtually with WoW). Unless of course he works for Blizzard and it’s part of his job.

LOL. No offense taken.

Of course he realizes it’s just a game. I don’t think there will be any WoW playing, it’s really just a social thing. I’m sure there will be plenty of WoW talk, but as long as I’m lounging by the pool with a margarita or doubling down at the blackjack table, I don’t really care what they talk about.

Most if not all of the guild members are either close friends of ours/his, or ex (maybe a couple of current?) SDMB board members, or both.

I don’t play, but really, who cares? It’s VEGAS. It’s just a few people meeting up for a fun weekend. We’ve gone to Dopefests in Vegas. And Chicago, and New York, and LA, and SF and a few other places. It’s really not any different.
