People running away, leaving bags all over the sidewalk… social media chatter about gunfire? No confirmation of anything from the police but apparently police & fire were called out in heavy numbers.

Latest is-no shooting.

Passengers at Los Angeles International Airport were seen running from a terminal and onto a tarmac after reports were made of shots fired at the facility, but police said the reports were unfounded and there was no shooting.

“Reports of a shooting incident at LAX have been proven to be loud noises only,” the Los Angeles Police Department said about 45 minutes after the reports sparked a panic at the airport. There was no shooting and no injuries, police said.

The same thing happened at JFK two weeks ago.

CNN just posted that reports of a shooting were unfounded.

"Report of shooting at LAX proven to be LOUD NOISES only. No shots fired; no injuries. Investigation continues to locate source,"Andy Neiman, Commanding Officer of LAPD Media Relations said in a tweet.

While they were searching, the FAA put a 20 minute ground stop on flights into LAX. That was lifted at 1 AM EST.

We should expect to see more and more of this. It’s only a matter of time before the unknown sounds of “gunfire” are escalated to be caused by fireworks (deliberate) or worse. Security theater only works for so long. I’m surprised it has lasted as long as it has.
