They’re doing it wrong. What you’re supposed to do is have her lie on her back, then you put one finger under her and chant “light as a feather, stiff as a board” until she floats. The ropes in that picture are just not right.
More realistically, looks like a team rhythmic gymnastics team using ribbons; judging from the link, probably Bulgarian; probably at this point, the four girls on the outer edge had twirled their ribbons in such a way that other members could grab the ends and form a mesh to catch the fifth girl. Knowing rhythmic gymnastics a bit, I’d bet the girl caught in the mesh had actually leapt before the ribbons had been caught, the mesh being created right as the girl came to her landing position… the timing and choreography in Olympic-caliber RG is amazing.
Found this video of the 2008 Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics team. Not doing the move shown in the video, but they seem to be ribbon specialists, and I’d bet are the same girls as in the pic. Fun video to watch. This video shows off some of the more amazing routines of RG, both solo and team, and there are some shocking examples of team choreography (using balls and hoops, mostly) near the end.
