Wait, but how did you get it in?
The answer is to say, “You, too,” (even if a man says it). Then they reply, “I’m not a mother.” And you say, “Neither am I.”
I think this was in an advice column last week.
My neighbor needed a crane to get his fridge delivered in his house. He previously had stone work applied to all the walls in his house so when the fridge was delivered it fit through the front door but couldn’t go down the hall or through any doorways because of the stone work on the walls. Too tight. A crane service came out and lifted it over the roof to the back deck where it could then fit through the sliding glass doors into the kitchen. That was about 15 years ago.
An extremely mini rant, first world problem. I have two items in my Amazon cart. I don’t want to pay for Prime. I am informed that I can get free shipping if I add $0.03 worth of items to my cart. I don’t really want anything else from Amazon right now. What to do?
I’d order a package of toilet paper, or a dozen bars of Irish Spring. Things I know I’ll use.
I’ve stayed in a few hotels/motels, but I have never turned on the television. I’m typically staying at the hotel so I can do things (go to the beach, walk the boardwalk, etc). Before cellphones I might have searched for the local weather, I guess.
Could you swap one of the items out for a different brand that costs just a little more?
Would they respond to news stories about partner A requiring expensive long-term care and partner B being left destitute as a result? There are, I expect, loads of those out there.
Just saying a corset might be the answer to your issue. No not the bondage type corset, nor the ones for trying to have the smallest waist in the county. There are comfortable supportive corsets you can buy. Look for Medieval reenactors pages. In fact, I like this enough I may get one for myself since strapless bras I have been able to find are the ones that are designed to be backless and as you say are not comfortable at all and I am no longer comfortable going braless anymore.
I did try a corset like bra, but the problem is I am short with a short torso, so when I bent at the waist (as in sitting in a chair) it would thrust my boobs skyward. So the one I tried was sort of a half-corset, but that presented it’s own issues. I’ll keep looking.
Sports bra?
If I’m following correctly, she’s looking for strapless. As in, a NON-over-the-shoulder boulder holder.
To find one that works (gotta love that cantilever!) AND is comfortable not excruciatingly painful to wear & breathe in, for more than approx. seven minutes?
AND won’t be eyewateringly expensive?
All luck
to her.
Yeah. I am a 42G. So finding anything in that size is difficult in the first place. I may just have to resign myself to full coverage dresses.
At the end of March I filed an application for a passport at the Hillsborough County Clerks office. The clerk there reviewed my application and paperwork, took my photo, and collected all the fees. I was told I should receive my passport in 6-8 weeks, and my documents would be returned shortly after that.
Today I get a letter from the passport office informing me that the birth certificate I had provided was not acceptable because it did not have my parents’ full names. I called the passport service info number, and all they could tell me that it’s possible that what I gave them was a “short form” proof of birth. This is the same certified birth certificate that I had previously used to get my state ID card, Real ID, and TSA Pre-Check without any problem. I was directed to go to my state/county records office to request the proper document. The problem is that I’m in NC but I was born in IL. So I go to the IL records office website, which gives me the option of mailing in an application or going through a records service to order it online. This, of course, requires payment of additional fees, but I figure it will be faster than ordering it by mail. Then I get to the last page of the ordering process, which recommends paying extra for express shipping. Then it tells me that the “express shipping” will take 20-25 business days to process.
Of course, once I get the document I need to mail it to the passport office. No guarantee how long after they get it will it take before I get my passport. I need it by the end of July, since my flight is on August 2. I’m willing to bet I’m going to end up having to pay extra for expedited processing.
The last two hotels we stayed in had this issue, too. Normally I don’t care about TV when I am somewhere else, but in Hotel A, we were there for the eclipse and it would have been nice to see some coverage, both local and otherwise about it. Without a guide, I was left guessing where I might find it.
Ditto with Hotel B - we were in Yurp during the Eurovison competition and the final was the night we needed to pack to go home. Would have been nice to have seen some of it while we were (literally) getting our shit together, but no idea where to find it. After slogging through about 25 different channels I gave up because I didn’t have time to keep looking.
That kind of dovetails into @purplehorseshoe’s sad about not seeing the Northern Lights – I would have loved to see them too but we weren’t in a place where that was possible. What I never would have expected was that HOME (in central NC) was where it would be possible! At least my neighbors took pictures so I got to see those.
Wait two days for the price to go up?
Buy an Amazon gift card with a value of $0.03?
Here’s a site with cheap Amazon filler items to meet shipping requirements.
As you may or may not be aware, the records service is a for-profit entity not affiliated with any branch of the IL government. I’d check out what the turnaround time on a mailed BC would be.
(Alternatively, do you have any relatives in IL who might be able to get it for you locally?)
I like Chess and want to learn more. Chessable is an online learning service for Chess and it’s good. It uses spaced repetition and the lines are explained and I have learned a lot, far more than my time reading my mountain of Chess books.
Thing is, I have been doing this for years and have other interests and would like to put Chess aside for awhile. I cannot cancel my Chessable yearly subscription.
I have asked them, I have asked Apple, and no one seems able to:
-Get in contact with me.
-Stop Apple from taking $74.99 out of my bank account and giving it to Chessable every May 3rd.
It’s simply impossible, they tell me.
I’ll tell you what is impossible, strangling strangers stonewalling me over the phone with my mind. I know because it would have worked by now if I could do it.
So I am in limbo, pissed I am paying for a service I don’t want to use and absolutely sure I will have to pay again next year for a service that is is now making me upset.
It’s a hassle, but if you report the card they have on file as lost, they will issue you one with a new number and the Chess people will be OOL
Of course, you will then have to update every other place where the number is on file…
Ooh, that’s devious…
I’m pleasantly surprised by all the places that have a “pause” function. When I went to cancel Peacock (just got it for a month to watch Six Nations Rugby), the “Cancel” page had “Pause my subscription” as the default. Clever…
Could you call them with a sob story filled with medical crises (yours and Grandma’s and the Labradoodle?).
