I just added that Bruce Campbell book. I’d never heard of it, and it sounds terrific.

I tend to use the wish list to just store stuff I think is interesting and might buy later so my selection is pretty varied.

But, I have to share this story. I was corresponding with this guy I met through Nerve personals. When we met, he confessed that he had looked up my wish list on Amazon. I found that pretty creepy. It had never occurred to me to scope someone out that way. I found it particularly disturbing since I had just added the book “A Round Heeled Woman”, which is the true story of a woman who decides to just go for it and have a lot of sex with guys she meets through the personals.

Anyway, I guess I hadn’t really considered how much infomation is out there and how much a person’s wish list reveals about them…

I don’t actually have an Amazon wish list, but if i did there’s one book that would head the list:

The Complete Far Side: 1980-1994, by Gary Larson.

It’s pretty good actually.

As for my wish list, I think I have the largest out of the people posted so far.

I have 340 items (mainly books and DVD’s, a few other items), which translates to 14 pages of stuff I must get sometime in the future.

*In the ‘wish list’ search section, just type in “Jesse Combs” + “Fairfax” and it should bring up my wishlist filled with the staggering amount of crap that I wish I owned…

*I don’t think that’s too much personal information, but if the mods do, please edit it.

Like Meatros, I have quite a wish list: 287 total items (177 books, 26 DVDs, 79 CDs, 5 video games).

First item on my wish list:
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath ($11.16)

Last item added:
To The 5 Boroughs by Beastie Boys ($13.49)

5 most expensive items:
[ol][li]Oddkins: A Fable for All Ages by Dean R. Koontz ($127)[/li][li]Visions of the ‘Neue Frau’: Women and the Visual Arts in Weimar Germany by Marsha Meskimmon ($99.95)[/li][li]Double Game by Sophie Calle ($75)[/li][li]Maxfield Parrish: The Masterworks by Alma Gilbert ($57.80)[/li][li]Gustave Moreau by Genevieve Lacambre ($52.50)[/ol][/li]
5 cheapest items:
[ol][li]Bitten by Kelley Armstrong ($5.99)[/li][li]These Boots are Made for Walking by KMFDM ($6.49)[/li][li]Let’s go play at the Adams’ by Mendal W Johnson ($6.95)–actually, this made it to my list on a recommendation, I believe, by jarbaby[/li][li]Femme Fatale: Images of Evil and Fascinating Women by Patrick Bade ($6.95)[/li]Dark Shadows: Angélique’s Descent by Lara Parker ($6.99)[/ol]

I use it as a mostly personal repository. for things I intend to buy closer to their release date, or other things of that nature. Thus, it only has a few anime titles in it, and a game that I’m waiting to buy until more places have it (allowing me to then comparison shop better). This Christmas though, I might actually create a public version.

My Amazon wish list isn’t really a just for wishes. I put books on it that others recommend when I am online. It has books that I would like to have as well as books that I haven’t read yet but would like to read so don’t know if I really want to add them to my personal library or not. I have another written wish list of books that I haven’t added to Amazon yet, because it would be embarrassingly long. :o

So some of these I want to read not necessarily own. A few of them I have read and want to own. Even fewer I haven’t read and already know I want to own.

Nothing’s on my list - I print out descriptions on paper.

The reason: my wife has now twice received books from Amazon that were on her wish list, without her ordering them - at least, so she says. Maybe they figure people are not likely to return items they already said they wished they had. Or maybe there’s some way of ordering wish list items that is so easy one can do it by accident. Either way, count me out.

I can’t even explain some of these. Some of these I can’t recall why I put them on the list. But here it is: (Oh, in case it’s not obvious, I’m in the process of learning Spanish. Some of the Harlequin books are English versions of the Spanish books.)

I use my wish list to keep track of the books that catch my interest because of this place. I carry it with me for library runs and jaunts into the used book stores.

Every so often I prune it down and print it out, and then another " Whatcha reading thread" comes along and thickens it up.

Thanks everyone.

It could be someone else found her wishlist and ordered it for her. I’ve never had Amazon send me something I didn’t already order, and I order from them A LOT.
