What's in your freezer?

4lb of whole frozen cranberries (I was driving past an Oceanspray cranberry bog.)
2 pizza crusts
4lbs of frozen corn
several loaves of bread, from the bakery in the next town
an icecream bucket full of sliced ginger, ready for the next batch of homemade gingerale
about 10lbs of misc cuts of lamb
30lbs of seasoned tri-tip steaks (I could live on these)
Our last 14lb ribeye steak (yes, all one cut)
various frozen veggies
Texas toast.
tater tots
10 boxes of pizza rolls (yippie for pizza rolls)

At one point this summer, I estimated that we had $800-1000 worth of steaks in our freezer. I was starting to wonder if we needed to put a rider on our insurance policy.

Ice, lots of frozen veggies, some texas toast, tons of Indian food (both entrees and rotis), frozen fruit, one pizza crust, one really old loaf of rum raisin bread my mom made, homemade ice cream and one lean cuisine. Oh, yeah, a bunch of veggie burgers, some bacon that ought to be thrown out, some salmon, and some chicken, and lemonade from concentrate.

Except for Johnny Bravo, our contents seem a little strange in comparison.

Brine shrimp
6 ice cube trays various sizes
Blood worms
Blue ice
Beef heart
Strawberry waffles
Krill
Those new Hot Pockets strawberry & cream cheese things
Spirulina
Steak
Daphnia
Vegetables
1/2 dozen mice
Pistachio Pistachio ice cream

Forty Pieces of Silver.
Oh, wait a minute. That’s what’s in The Lone Ranger’s freezer.

5 beef roasts, 20 pounds of frozen peaches, and three loaves of badly freezer burned bread.

Oh, and a human placenta.

no, I am not joking

gatopescado, do I want to know why you have a human head in your freezer?

Working on memory, here:

frozen sweet cherries
frozen sour cherries
several loaves of bread
a kilo of sharp sharp cheddar
a frozen pepperoni pizza
preserved apricots
chicken thighs
a pork roast
strawberry freezer jam
canned orange juice
lemonade
duck fat
English muffins
bottle of Absolut vodka
several ice cube trays in amusing shapes
pita
cooked chickpeas
ground beef
halvah
milk
frozen corn
frozen green peas

Maybe we shouldn’t buy groceries this week. This is ridiculous.

Unitl a week ago I didn’t have a freezer. It’s not really essential when you live right next to a superstore.
Going from memory. Burgers. Fish fingers. a Loaf of Bread. Four baps. A bag of ice.

It’s only a small freezer.

Lots and lots and lots of blackberries (picked from our backyard)

In the remaining non-blackberry space:

Bag of ice
Mahi-Mahi patties
Turkey burgers
Meatless sausages
Paella cakes
Frozen mixed veggies
Frozen corn
Healthy Choice fudge pops
Bag of dark chocolate candies
Pint of B&J vanilla ice cream
Some Lean Cuisines
Salmon patties
Chicken breasts

• 4 ice cube trays
• The Zatarain’s Jambalaya I’ll have for dinner tonight
• A huge block of ice encased in which are some Ling and Kingfish I caught fishing offshore in 1989*

*They’ve been completely ice-encased the whole time - you think they’re still good?

checks freezer
One teeny tray of ice cubes, which happily fit in my narrow-mouth water battle.
One chocolate power bar
Three 2-packs of s’mores pop-tarts.

And it’s crowded, too!

did I mention I’m living in a dorm and have a 1.8 cu.ft. fridge with a teeny tiny freezer compartment?

Inventory time!

Geez, some of you folks have big freezers.

Four ice trays.
Gallon of Edy’s Grand cookie dough ice cream.
Package of veggie burgers.
Veggie ‘chicken’ nuggets.

Starving grad student stuff, though thanks to Vanderbilt’s generous TA program perhaps not quite as starving as some.

From memory, so this’ll have to be what do you freeze instead, it’s a combination of our two freezers.
a box of little baguettes my dad got at costco
homemade spaghetti sauce
whole chickens
pecans
almonds
butter
corn
lima beans
macaroni and cheese
these nasty corn dogs my dad also got at costco
green chiles
frozen strawberries
hamburger meat

One unopened pack of six Lender’s Bagels
One opened pack with one bagel left
Five M&M’s Ice Cream Cones
Two trays of ice cubes
A package of frozen broccoli (to be added to tortellini for Thursday’s lunch)
Two T-bone steaks (main course for Thursday’s dinner with my sweetie)
Box (about half-consumed) of 12 Aunt Jemima pancakes
Some built-up ice that will melt when I thaw out the freezer a week or two from now

We just bought and stocked a chest freezer for the garage the other week. So in it we have:
[ul]
[li]case of 40 Eggos[/li][li]5 lbs of salmon fillets[/li][li]4 lbs of scallops[/li][li]roughly 1/8th of a steer (half of a hind quarter from the local butcher shop. About $260 for 8 T-Bones, 4 fillets, some sirloin, a couple london broils, a couple roasts, and assorted hamburger, stew meat and some lesser steaks. I found it a unique experience, I had never ordered beef by the “fraction of a steer” before.)[/li][li]3 mushroom risottos from Trader Joes[/li][li]a dozen thick-cut pork chops[/li][/ul]

Forgot the Trader Joe’s low fat soy corn dogs. They’re not bad as long as you oven-bake them and douse them in ketchup.

then please explain

2 frozen pizzas, 4 pizza hot pockets, corn on the cob, a carton of milk, one popsicle, an empty ice tray, AA Batteries, a credit card in a block of ice, frozen peas, frozen carrots, 2 frozen hamburgers.

Yes I am serious about the credit card thats where my mom keeps it so she will think about if she really should buy something. As for why the milk is in there, I have no clue.

Lord knows. We have four freezers: One fridge/freezer, two full-sized freezers and one big chest freezer. I’m not generally the one who puts things in them, so I’m more than a little uncertain what’s there.

I know it includes:

Ice
Various ice creams, home made and store bought.
No doubt a random selection of meats.
A truly ridiculous quantity of fruit and veg: Raspberries, blackberries, beans, peas, currants in all the colours of the rainbow (well, ok, red, white and black, but who’s counting?), probably still some pumpkin from last year.
I think we’ve got a carton of soy milk in there somewhere.
Probably one or two frozen pizzas.

Not sure what else really. That doesn’t sound enough, but I guess it is the fruit and veg that takes up most of the space (The two full sized freezers are devoted almost entirely to it, and I suspect there’s a fair number of bags in the chest freezer as well)
