I thought those were a gut hook for cleaning birds.
I just checked the Victorinox web site, and it’s described as a “multipurpose hook”, which is unsatisfyingly vague and, to my mind, most un-Swiss.
Googling around Ive found a few uses. Package/bail carrier and gut hook as mentioned, plus pail carrier, knot un-tier, fish stringer holder, tent peg puller; and the most useful of all - unsticking your zipper when it gets stuck at the bottom of your fly(i hate that).
Multi purpose for sure…
I’ve got a Victorinox something or other - two knife blades, scissors, the aforementioned Mysterious Hook, can and bottle openers and a saw.
I’ve also got a Victorinox something or other, with a big locking blade, for when I want to cut things without slicing my fingers off.
Recently I bought a Leatherman something or other. I use it quite a lot.
I don’t carry any of these items around, because UK knife laws frown on carrying locking blades, and are a bit vague about normal SAKs. If they made a smallish Leatherman without a blade, I might carry that around on a keyring.

Get it I love mine. It’s always on my hip when I’m out doing work in the yard and such, or anywhere else for that matter. Any place but school, really. Very versatile tool. And the pliers are spring loaded.
Leatherman. I carry it on my belt most of the time and always when riding or hiking. I too wish my pliers were spring-loaded. Mine also has a saw, serrated knife, regular knife, file, scissors, phillips and regular screwdriver, hooked thingy. I use it all the time, mostly in the stable. I once had to cut my horse out of a hay net she had managed to get strung up in while traveling in a trailer. Horses easily destroy themselves under such circumstances as they often thrash in a panic. I felt virtuous and fortunate that I had my knife on my belt just where it should be.
I had a nice Gerber but loaned it to my daughter and never got it back. Have a Swiss Army somewhere in the camping gear but it is too weak and small for what I need.
Add a smaller Swiss Army Knife to the cluster and that thing would be complete!
