What's "Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard about?"

Is it about getting caught smoking pot?

Why does it have to be about something?

Simon was merely being evocative. He had no real incident in mind, and you can draw your own conclusions.

Snopes says that Paul Simon claims not to know what it means. (At the bottom of the page).

I didn’t say it had to mean anything.

But it sounds like it does… I guess not.

If you want to read more opinions, there was a lengthy thread on this subject in this forum about six weeks ago. My server’s acting up tonight, so I’m not going to search.

IIRC, opinions ranged from nothing to dope smokin’ to underage sex with Rosie to homosexual sex. Pick what you prefer, I guess!

The picture in my mind when I hear the song is two kids running around in Brooklyn doing silly things and being mischievious.

The song speaks of “the house of setention” and a “schoolyard” so they are juveniles.

Now if someone can tell me what “Bridge over troubled waters…” means?

Wasn’t there a thread on this a few weeks ago?
