Having failed to topple Nancy Pelosi. If you strike at a King you must kill him. So does he gain stature by having garnered 63 votes, or is he punished for having challenged the leader?
I would guess the latter. Because it’s not like he was one of the leading lights in Congress with an independent base of support. His support was just “it’s time for a change” support. So I would guess that to the extent that Pelosi wants to placate that sentiment, they can do so by promoting junior leadership that’s more to their liking.
