What's Next For a Guy Like Tim Ryan?

Having failed to topple Nancy Pelosi. If you strike at a King you must kill him. So does he gain stature by having garnered 63 votes, or is he punished for having challenged the leader?

I would guess the latter. Because it’s not like he was one of the leading lights in Congress with an independent base of support. His support was just “it’s time for a change” support. So I would guess that to the extent that Pelosi wants to placate that sentiment, they can do so by promoting junior leadership that’s more to their liking.

That’s why I wonder if maybe this whole thing was a publicity stunt, the first step of a campaign for governor. Now he’s an independent voice who took on the establishment or somesuch.

He obviously plans to be the next governor of Ohio and is very likely to succeed.
