So many old taboo’s have been legalized in just this century.
Same sex marriage
transgender restroom access
Medical marijuana
Recreational marijuana
How long will it take till some society (not necessarily ours) to legalize …
Recreational sex … you know just for the fun of it not your wife or your girlfriend just someone that wants to get it on and for it to be legal, safe and doesn’t cost that much.
How long do you think it will take 10 to 20 years? Like marijuana it will start with some state like California for example.
I see a day when men and women will be auctioned off like they do animals today, for an hour or a day or a night.
Does this sound like a society you could live in?
Sounds a little sick, uh?
I would move to the last country that allows this.
I guess the OP is talking about prostitution. It’s already legal in so many forms, and many of the laws can’t be enforced anyway. I don’t know what the OP foresees except legalizing brothels where they aren’t now.
As far as I can discern, the OP is a “slippery slope” argument against SSM & transgender rights where the feared endpoint of claimed moral turpitude appears to be higher up the slope, behind us?
Bolding added. So he’s talking about cheap prostitution, I guess. Someone you pick up on the street (where the current laws are more likely to be enforced) and not an expensive call girl (or guy, for that matter).
You ever hear the phrase about the “oldest profession.” If you count a little bit of opportunity cost in time and supporting costs for some social lubrication (dinner, drinks, move… or gathering some wood for a fire in the cave) it’s basically been with us since we were a species.
I for one am glad that transgender people now have restroom access. It was so messy to have them pooping on the sidewalk.
Anyway, assuming that we are talking about prostitution being legal, I don’t really see that big a deal with it.
The main issue I would want addressed is how to ensure that it truly is a voluntary occupation, but keeping prostitution illegal is hardly helping to protect women from pimps and sex traffickers.
Yes, something like that … they have love hotels in Japan where men and women go to just talk or make love, plus the whole world has prostitution of some sort.
More like today without beating around the bush … you pay for the room and the hotel or casino gets cut of the action for introducing you.
A future of safe sex, a future of gratification of the senses.
Did you know that it is now legal to smoke pot in a bar in Colorado?
I don’t think we’ll ever get to the point where sex is just that.
People have been using naturally and manufactured substances to try and affect their health and well being since before there was any legal regulation. They’ve been ingesting psychoactive compounds that make them feel good since we discovered them, whatever the legal status. They’ve been going to the bathroom since…well forever. They did it even when there wasn’t anything like the concept of bathrooms, let alone gender segregated bathrooms.
They’ve also been forming long term mating pairs for a variety of reasons - social, sexual, and emotional long before there were enforced legal codes about marriage or genders of the parties involved. It’s silly to expect them to just stop giving up what they desire from those relationships, beyond the sex, just because sex is convenient. It’s really fucking easy to just go out and get laid right now in the US if that’s all you want. People are still forming long term relationships and getting married.
I find it amusing that a conservative pundit is shocked at the concept of two consenting, unmarried adults having sex merely for the sake of having sex, as if he’s never heard of such a thing in all his years.
