What's on my MP-3 Player? (The)

Now that I am up to the letter “T”, I’ve decided to bifurcate this letter into two distinct groups, the first being only songs that begin with the word “The”. The remaining “T” songs will appear in a separate thread. Here once again are the rules:

  • all songs will be in alphabetical order, this time organized by the first word following the word “The”. (e.g., The Long and Winding Road would follow The Last Waltz)
  • the songs are generally tunes by popular artists of the 60s through 90s, but not necessarily #1 hits
  • the name of the song will not appear in the lyrics given
  • please identify both the name of the song and the original artist
  • please refer to the number of the lyric when answering
