What's on your monitor?

I find you intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter

My monitor has a nautical theme.

Fishing net and a set of shark jaws.

Slee

I hot glued some silk flowers and leafy vines all 'round my monitor. Very garden of Eden by way of WalMart. Amongst the leaves is my Bimbo pastries mascot bear who seems to have a small plastic lizard doing something quite rude to him. Well, rude or pleasant, depending, you know…

I have a sticker w/ my name on it at the top, heart stickers in the top corners and little pirate people toys on top…lol

Yoda action figure.
Taz koosh.
R2D2 keychain
Tiny picture of one of my kitties’ faces.

Wow, I’m a total dork. This is embarrassing.

I have a flat panel monitor, so not much on there.

However, I do have several cat whiskers taped on the edge. Cat whiskers are good luck… (I didn’t pull them off of the cat, they fell off.)

A number of years ago I picked up a large (maybe 10 inches) and quite realistic rubber lizard at the wonderful Seattle novelty store Archie McFee, along with a much smaller (but similarly lifelike) tree frog, and they found a home on top of my monitor.

My dear wife extrapolated a bit beyond the data and decided that I must have a liking for reptile figurines in general and enjoy collecting them. So a few Christmas stocking-stuffers later, I now have a total of 6 reptilian and amphibious companions, including a 6 inch ceramic alligator and a little red and black striped frog that emits high frequency chirps when disturbed.

I have grown to love them all, of course.

At home: One of those Chinese coins with the square missing from the middle, suspended from a complex knot of red. It’s s’posed to bring good fortune, I think. Well, so far, th’ monitor hasn’t blown up, so I’m on a roll.

Not much right now. ‘Mud’ (the cat, aka “Your Majesty”) managed to knock everything off in one leap.

Right now, my squeaky Buddhist monk (latte in one hand, cell phone in the other and blissful smile on his face), the Hindi Bendy bendable figure, and a large green plastic Apatosaurus have managed to make their way back home. The four stuffed buffalo, alas, are still roaming between the desk and the wall.

On the top of my monitor in my office are:
[ul]
[li]A pencil sharpener in the shape of a nose. (You stick the pencil in the left nostril to sharpen it. Heh.)[/li][li]A fossilized imprint of a scallop shell, found at Calvert Cliffs, MD[/li][li]A little metal box with a picture of the Sacred Heart on it and the words, “Detente enemigo que el corazon de Jesus esta conmigo” written around it. I keep my loose change in it.[/li][li]A photo of me and my best friend standing in front of the Domo in Milan, taken when we went to Italy in high school.[/li][li]A little rubber finger-puppet of a blue monster. [/li][/ul]

Around the monitor I’ve taped little post-it notes regarding work and a photo of my mother and her younger sister taken in June 1959.

My monitor at home has little stickers of animals stuck all around the screen.

A little plastic figurine of Marvin the Martian pointing his Illudiam Pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator directly at me…

Barry

Just my cat  She’d knock anything else off!

Home:

Nothing, or the occasional cat. Usually I have reflective safety tape (you know, for safety) across the top border, but I’ve been lazy with this monitor.

Work:

I can’t make anything balance on top of my laptop’s screen. there’s a magic 8-ball on my desk, though.

Oh cripes…oh man…it’s little gems like these
My cat Lillith, mother of Silver, Blondie, Max, Jules, Polly and Pan, is on my left monitor.

Four stuffed hippos (I’m a hippo person…)

Zev Steinhardt

I have a row if teeny little black and white cat things in all kinds of fun (i mean that in an innocent way) positions - ie, one waving, one lying on its side, one standing on its hands.

I had these when i was about 16 or so… had forgotten all about em till a couple of months ago when my mum pulled em out of an old box… have a real cat now…who’s black and white so i figured they were kinda appropriate…and there they are!

http://users.tpg.com.au/talie/beetlook.jpg <— he’s too big and fat to fit on my monitor

Here at work I have a mini set of the U.S. flag and Marine Corps Colors from last year’s ball.

Sitting on my iMac is a Catbert stuffed toy.

My office computer monitor used to have the PHB sitting on it, but since I got laid off, he’s been hanged on the end of a spare mouse.

This thread has made me glance at the top of my monitor to find that somebody has stolen my Dogbert doll. I had a grapefruit-sized Dogbert, a miniature “Jupiter II” spaceship & my yellow Intel bunny guy up there and only the bunny guy is left.

Somebody stole my Dogbert!

What’s this world coming to?

I run dual monitors.

Monitor 1: Tare panda
Monitor 2: Yellow cow with a newyork taxi motif.
