On my monitor at home, there is nothing. I love the pristine, clean blackness of the Dell monitor. It is soothing.
My monitor at work is a whole nuther story.
On top: A small stuffed vibrating fish from Fannie Farmer. His name is Vibrochamp (named after a local band).
Stuck to the border around the screen, clockwise, starting at upper left:

Just two days ago I taped up an index card with all the DVD player keyboard shortcuts. Now I know how to stop and fast forward without using the mouse. You can tell I’m pleased with my ingenuity. Before that, nothing but a lot of dust. I would have a hard time balancing stuffed animals or action figures on the top, though…
At home, I have an old printing press graphic block on mine. It was apparently designed for catalog printing. It has an excellent engraving of a trumpet on it.
At work, I have nothing on my monitor. There are enough distractions, already.
At work, just a block of wood I carved my name in 15 years ago. Honestly, I really though the OP meant what was, you know, on the monitor. You know, on screen?
Whatever.
At home I only have an old laptop, so nuttin’ fits.
On top of my monitor is perched my little webcam, which I rarely use. Also up there is a framed photo of Gunslinger and me from when we first met. Finally, there’s a wooden duck decoy. It has a couple of hats hung on it - Gun’s old Justin Boots cap, and a black hat from the '40s that I bought on eBay and have yet to wear anyplace.
Home - Sony GDM20
The Argonath bookends, new copies of FotR and TTT, Sea Kayaker - Deep Trouble, the complete works of Shakespeare, and two tiny green and blue foam ziggurats made by my daughter.
Work - Nanao 21
Nothing - the cubicle must remain as clean as possible.
