Given how much I hate conflict, it’s funny how much I love the Pit. What it comes down to for me is pure authenticity. Every great once in a while, a thread will come along that starts out as the typical bitchfest and evolves into a real exchange of ideas. You don’t have to wonder what people are really thinking. Nobody’s blowing smoke up your ass in the Pit.

These kind of postings are worthy of pitting. If you report a post or thread, it is just plain wrong to announce it like this. The victims should find themselves blindsided by the reports because they are to stupid to know better. Justice and moderation should be swift, silent agony.

Very well said. I think you get more honest, interesting discussions when people don’t have to worry about getting warnings if their disagreement is a little too disagreeable. Plus, it’s always nice to just be able to tell someone flat out when they’re being a huge dildo.

Start with this recent thread on page 3 or 4. Some dipshit started a thread complaining about his girlfriends brother talking shit about him. Turns out dipshit is kind of a dipshit and mooches off his 16 year old girlfriends’ mom every weekend and lives there on the weekend and makes the mom drive him around and eats her food.
Some other dipshit, now banned, comes along calling people “Dr. Phil” and generally being a dipshit himself.
The whole thread turns on to dipshit #2 and lots of fun is had. One poster finds dipshit #2’s facebook page and twitter account and dipshit #2 flips his shit and even more fun is had.

It was so hard to not list a prodigious plethora of playful posters, but he consistently zings one in from left field when you’re not even looking. In that case, the offending douchefaucet had been bringing up “Dr. Phil!” in every other post, as if that won the argument. So it was perfection.
As was this meta-post: “I bet he was only pretending to have Münchausen by Internet in order to gain sympathy.”
