What's that cake thingy?

You know the ones. Low density, looks like a rounded pyramid with a depression in the top for putting strawberries and whipped cream on.

What the heck is it called? It is still sold in grocery stores, isn’t it?

Believe it or not, need answer kinda fast to finish off a grocery pick-up list.

Sponge cake dessert cups?

This?

Angel food cake.

Depending on the brand, dessert shells or dessert cups, sponge cake may be in the title somewhere as well.

These, right? Dessert cups or dessert shells. I’ve seen them called shortcake at some groceries, because people put strawberries and whipped cream in them, but they are very much not actually shortcake.

They’re similar in shape to rum babas, a classic recipe.

Dessert cups! YES! Thank you ALL. I was going nuts.

Thanks for the earworm, gang!

Nibblin’ on sponge cake…

Solar oven, oil poached, tourist on sponge cake? MMMMM!!!

Lately I’ve been making rhubarb-strawberry-banana shortcake for dessert using those cake thingys.
