What’s that Foul Smell in the Classic Italian Sub by Quiznos?
I stopped going to a particular Quiznos because their Classic Italian Sub started smelling like a homeless man (I’m not joking). You know, like it had a very bad body odor. A new store opened up nearby so I tried it, after a few subs in which the smell was not evident the smell returned. Needless to say, I’ve stopped frequenting Quiznos.
I’m going to guess that it might have been the capicola, which is described as “Italian Ham” but which can apparently be made from either pork butt or pork shoulder, and which apparently is made with spices. So Quizno’s capicola might be seasoned with strong spices that smell “bad” to you.
If you ask the mods to make a better thread title, with the word ‘Quiznos’ in it, perhaps it will catch the eye of someone who has or is working there.
Ok, got off the phone a few minutes ago. Looks like DDG got it. It’s the capicola that smells funniest. These subs are made with 4 different kinds of pig meat. If it’s the “vinigary” smell you don’t like, that’ll be the italian dressing - a red wine vinaigrette.
I’ve never heard the word before, but google gave me this video of roast capicola.
