what's the "anti-misogyny policy"?

Let’s cut the bullshit. You wanna jizz in your sock over some dollface’s gigantic funbags, do it elsewhere, because this is a class establishment.

You are the OP.

Was it not a classy establishment last week during the Kellyanne Conway thread? Or do you not consider a bunch of those posts the equivalent of various posters “jizz[ing] in [their] sock over some dollface’s gigantic funbags”?

Even our very own high-and-mighty Beckdawrek had this to say in that thread:

So what’s the policy? Are comments on the physical appearance of other people acceptable, or are they not? Or do the rules change based on the gender, politics, or attractiveness of either the poster or the subject?

Beckdawrek, if aceplace57 had posted “She reminds me of a used to be cheerleader. I don’t think she’s disgusting.” (instead of saying “If she can’t cure ED no one can”) would you have found that post acceptable?

Its like the sexual revolution of the 1960s never happened. :stuck_out_tongue:

Read this thread about the banning of StarvingArtist:
https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=863223

The key point is that he was banned for misogyny without any official Mod warnings first. Think back to the people who have been who have been given multiple warnings. Thus it’s obvious the Mods considered StarvingArtist’s misogyny views much more offensive than the behavior of those other posters.

If what aceplace57 did was considered trolling by the mods why wasn’t he warned?

He was.

It was quoted in the OP of this thread.

Yeah, Hurricane knows exactly what he’s doing. I don’t know why the mods let him get away with it.

To ITD: ok.

I got the impression from Chronos’ post (quoted in the OP) that he was.

The master speaks.

ahhh, our first Mod has made his/her appearance. IvoryTowerDenizen, could you shed some light on the anti-misogyny policy?

Yes, “henpecked” is offensive, especially in the current context of this thread.

I didn’t complain about the KellyAnne thread because it was clear up front what it was. In retrospect, I should have. It’s definitely is a thread that makes the place unfriendly to women.

Because trying to control others speech is fascistic. The post does not contain any slurs. Its just one group of posters trying to silence another group of posters.

To be honest, I’m surprised the Conway thread wasn’t killed, too. Felt really out of place to me in this board culture, as did Ace’s thread.

And yet, some of the posters (and one of the mods!) that were offended by the “cute model” thread had no issues commenting in the Conway thread. It smells like hypocrisy.

I didn’t follow either thread that closely, but both pinged my “why the fuck is this a thread” meter. The KAC thread, especially. Yeah, “she’s a reprehensible human being, but I’d sure like to fuck her!” just seems like a really out-of-place thread here. I just ignored it, because maybe I was missing some nuance, but seriously?

Sure. We, as a board, have become less tolerant of misogynistic and demeaning posts and are taking it more seriously. It’s evolved over a period of time (starting with cracking down on lascivious and yuk-yuk posts dropped into serious threads about women’s health and body questions), by employing already existing rules, such as threadshitting, hijacking, don’t be a jerk.

There’s been some discussion on the boards. I’m surprised you’ve missed it.

We had this thread a few years ago.

I thought there was also a thread about hot male politicians too.

Either way, who said anybody has a right to never be offended? And how far are people willing to go? And its pretty obvious there are political undertones of the enforcement of these rules.

One time I jokingly ribbed Randrover, and he shot back at me and he got a warning. He was a conservative, and I’m sure his politics played a role in why his treatment was so strict.

I am not high and mighty. And I don’t think what I said about Ms. Conway was all that offensive. Meh, not nice, maybe.
