what's the "anti-misogyny policy"?

Mod Hat On

Don’t take pot shots at other posters in this thread or forum.

Why would anyone seriously think people would want to know about what makes them hard/wet/whatever?

It ain’t rocket science.

I’ll give my two cents about the Kelly Ann Conway OP in comparason to the one discussed here.

First, I just looked at it for the first time now. I’m not sure if it was reported and I was offline and missed it, or if no one reported it.

Second, Honestly I don’t think the Kelly Ann OP is a problem. The one by aceplace was more of a “penthouse forum” feel, which has always been prohibited. I don’t want to read how this model makes him get an erection. The Kelly Ann OP seemed sincere and appeared to be a respectful conversation starter about his feelings towards her. It was not demeaning in language or intent, or tossed into an op for a gratuitous guffaw.

Others may disagree, and I didn’t read the whole thread to see if it went astray, but there you go.

Not going to defend Ace’s post, but there is something schizophrenic about a site serving up busty blonde ads for ED medicines but declaring discussion of them offensive.

That thought absolutely crossed my mind, as well. I pay not to see ads, but the irony or whatever was not lost on me.

If he wanted to discuss the ad, inquire about the model, discuss ED, complain about ads, discuss that he finds her attractive etc, all that could be fine. Asking about the model while letting us know she would cure his ED (wink, wink, she makes me hard, nudge, nudge), is not, in my opinion. If the intent of his thread was to learn more about the model and her career, drop the crappy and lascivious jokes and just ask.

Acey was recently mod noted for dropping in gratuitous and demeaning dumb blond jokes in another OP, so he knows this is not being tolerated.

We have not declared discussion of them offensive, and in fact we are discussing them right now in a non-offensive manner. Offensive discussion like aceplace57’s is what is offensive.

Will this lead to mod notes for gratuitous and demeaning posts directed at Republicans and the religious? Or are we moding the object of derision rather than the act?

OK, so can we say that maybe serving up ads about erectile dysfunction featuring a woman with pert breasts with erect nipples poking out a tank top could be construed a bit, perhaps, counterproductive to the board culture we’re trying to cultivate here?

I love this trope because it’s so wrong.

I actually did a count on warnings I’ve given out, and of the ones related to political posts, the majority of warnings I’ve given are at people making swipes at Trump or Republicans. Mod notes as well, but it’s harder to track those.

That anti-Trump/Republican posts are given a pass is just so not true. Same with anti-religious posts. I’ve modded them all the fricking time. This is just so old.

If you see a post that needs moderating report it. If there’s no action, PM a mod or start an ATMB thread for clarification. Make your case. Don’t go into this assuming the mods don’t want to moderate well and we are being overtly biased. And be prepared to accept the fact that people of good faith can disagree on an interpretation and action.

Anyway, it’s probably too off topic for this thread. Start another if you want to debate this claim.

Sure.

But we mods have zero control over this. There’s literally nothing we can do about it. But we can control what happens in discussions on the board, so we do the best we can.

Since there’s no anti-racism policy why is there an “anti-misogyny” policy?

Moderator Note

As far as I am aware, this ad was not reported as inappropriate by anyone. Now that our admin is aware of it, the ad folks have been contacted to make sure that the ad gets removed.

At the moderation level, we have no control over the ads. But we can report inappropriate or problematic ads. If you see an ad that has inappropriate content, hijacks your browser or takes you away from the page, can’t be closed, or otherwise causes issues, please report it.

Screen captures are helpful, along with any other info that can help us track down where the ad is coming from.

This mirrors my reaction to both threads. I only read the first post or three of the Kellyanne Conway thread and thought the discussion of how a person’s politics could affect their attractiveness might be interesting. In contrast, Aceplace’s thread was about pure objectification, and how the woman’s appearance would help him get his rocks off. Pretty disgusting.

Thanks for your response. As I noted in the OP, I have not, actually, missed the discussion, but I did miss the point at which it went from being just a discussion to being a warn-able rule violation / “policy”.

This is utterly mystifying to me. I can understand why the “cute model” thread got shut down. “I don’t want to read how this model makes him get an erection” is utterly understandable, but in the Kellyanne thread, we were treated to “Has it been that long since I got laid, or is it okay to find her moderately attractive with the cliche’ chauvinistic term of “I wouldn’t kick her out of bed”?”

Do we really need to hear about how long it’s been since Win Place Show “got laid”, or who he would or would not deign to have sex with? Or which hair color he finds most gratifying (blonds apparently)? Of course not! How is that in any way, shape, or form any bit better than aceplace57’s OP? It doesn’t seem “respectful” in the slightest, and if I were to start a mirror image thread about AOC, I can guess that you’d have been flooded with reports and complaints about how misogynistic it was.

It seems to me that “Maybe I’m just a sucker for blondes” is exactly “demeaning in language or intent, or tossed into an op for a gratuitous guffaw.”

There isn’t an anti-racism policy? I’d test it but I’m pretty sure there is one.

No, the board has no such policy and quite a few open racists.

That’s not to say there aren’t some limits on what they can say but there’s no ban on racists.

If you don’t believe me, ask the mods.

Oh, I know we have a small number of racists compared with my real life. I’m just curious if I can call you someone who races dromedaries, carefully worded to avoid hate speech. Probably not is my guess.

So as not to be smeared by this charge, I feel obliged to point out that only one of the three posters who objected in the “cute model” thread before it was closed had any posts in the Conway thread. For the record, it wasn’t me. I never opened the Conway thread.

Because women aren’t a minority, so losing their custom hurts the bottom line a lot more.
