what's the "anti-misogyny policy"?

I know it’s moving along that quickly, but the male mods have mostly been pretty willing to listen and take action. The women most certainly have.

Personally, I find this remark offensively sexist.

Says one of the male moderators who let a lot of jerkishness slide when it was directed at women posters in the past.

Just because you are all gun-ho now of protecting women, doesn’t excuse you letting a lot of misogyny slide in the past.

Gotta side with you there, Huitzilopochtli. As you might know, I renamed the most vicious of my Little Girls* “Huitzilopochtli.”

  • – If’n you don’t know, they are Westie/Shih Tzu crosses who are sweeter than sugar to humans but effin’ HATE rodents.

Also you’re totally not shitty website ate the rest of my post.

Because you did.

Deal with it.

Or don’t as you seem to not want to.

And continue to allow it as you do with posters like HurricaneDitka, who can’t for the life of him figure out where the bright line of the rule is and even though it is explained to him by posters and mods a gabillion times, just can’t seem to figure it out as he is dancing on the line and laughing about it.

Well, it just really seems like this sight welcomes and encourages the misogyny.

Just to keep the few old dying white male posters from leaving so this sight doesn’t finally die.

Enjoy pandering to the rules lawyering misogynysts.

Since that seems to be the audience this site wants to keep around.

This male poster does not agree.

It is definitely more likely that the male moderators are the ones who have unintentionally let misogyny go by. I know from my own experience that I did not notice the full extent of the problem.

And, from just watching when this came up, IvoryTowerDenizen was definitely the first mod who seemed to get it.

It’s not like she said that all male mods are misogynists. She just said that the mods have let some misogyny go by, and that this is more likely to have been the male mods.

And, note, I’m not remotely the type who acts like sexism/racism/etc can only go one way. If I genuinely saw any trace of misandry in the post, I would not be disagreeing with you. But I don’t. I do see some negativity towards the mods, but it is for their actions, not the mods as people.

I’m still wondering why the board has a policy against misogyny but not racism. Perhaps one of the mods could explain.

I’m pretty sure racism isn’t tolerated either.

Yes it is. As long as it’s polite.

Yes, as long as a bigotry is packaged in the polite language like a tea room conversation.

But it is to be admitted that until recently a more gross vulgarism aimed at women was tolerated.

it can be expected it will end up the same, so long as the tea room language is used, it will be permitted by the faux-politiesse.

As we seem to be too dense to figure them out, perhaps you can explain them to us? For example, is using the term “fairer sex” outside the lines? We have people in this thread who have different opinions on it. It is only fair (hehe) to give some direction.

Again, coming up on just this side of the line is an is always good. The “I’m not touching you” bullshit argument simply doesn’t fly. The rules can say that you cannot invade someone’s person space and make them uncomfortable. That’s what assault laws are in essence.

I fear that the continuing lack of guidance by the moderators are an effort to trap the unwary or the innocent (the OP’s fairer sex comment). Even those on the left have to admit that the rules on this sort of thing change hourly and are largely done by decree by only a handful in the selected group who claim to be offended. It is not too much to ask, even if there are not bright line rules, for a minimum of guidance other than “You know what you are doing, we won’t tell you what that is, but stop it.”

How about those that don’t get the nuance just try their best. To be respectful to women whatever the topic, as the default. Should you come up against it, the mods will rule and you can take note. And thereby understand the application and nuance more fully, as you are seeking.

The ‘don’t be a jerk’ rule totally covers this. And EVERY call the mods make is an individual interpretation. As it always has been.

No one agrees with all the calls, or where the ‘lines’ are, that’s the nature of the beast. And I believe most posters easily understand and accept this as the nature of a moderated board.

It’s not like you get hit with a stick if you overstep, it’s a reminder to dial it back most often.

It’s not rocket science.

Maybe it would be better for everyone to speak for themselves.

To quote a poster here’s name, “It’s not rocket surgery!”

Don’t be degrading to women. Why is it so fucking hard to understand?

I would just advise anyone who feels they are personally too dense to figure out general social norms that don’t seem to be a problem for 99.9% of posters to just stay well away from the subject. Sorry, but if you are claiming you just can’t figure any of this out, just don’t post about it. If you are color blind, don’t post on the subject of painting, or if you are deaf, you may not be able to constructively comment on music.

No, as mentioned earlier there’s no rule against racism the way there is apparently a rule against misogyny. There is a rule against “hate speech” but that’s not the same thing.

Anyway, hopefully one of the mods will explain why the site has a policy against misogyny but not racism.

The OP didn’t get a warning for using the term “fairer sex” but instead got called out by another poster because it reeked of insincerity in a “misogyny” thread. And let’s face it, this bait and switch bullshit thread isn’t about misogyny at all. It’s just another opportunity for this particular OP to climb up on his cross and wail about the persecution of conservatives by the bleeding-heart, libtard moderation team.

No. If you are genuinely ill-informed enough to understand that the use of a term which may have been acceptable in 1958 doesn’t now fly in 2018, then the onus is on you to educate yourself on the last 60 years of social progress, not for the rest of society to explain to you why this isn’t just a random shibboleth to trap the unwary. As it is, you sitting there whining “But whyyy? Where’s the ruuule?” is the equivalent of the guy wanting the calculus class stopped while the tutor explains why four threes are twelve. Get up to speed with the rest of the class, or drop out.

Oddly enough, that’s what I’ve always assumed Kellyanne smells like too.
