It compares very well. The best individual training (there are tons of dog owners in this apartment complex so I’m not interested in group training) price is $350 for 10 lessons…so 35 bucks an hour payable all up front. The other thing I like is that she’ll be coming here and training him in his environment.
Even though the thread appears dead, I though I’d just give Nikki Tikki Tavi the update. The trainer came for a consultation last night and she was superb. I can’t wait to start working with her. She asked us a bunch of questions, observed his behavior with us, and watched his behavior on his own. Then we talked about our expectations and her expectations. Finally we talked about her training methods (clicker and food mostly) and she sounds to really know what she’s doing.
The only potential drawback (that I’m really not worried about) is that she uses chicken as the first-step training using food. I don’t give Larry the Wonder Dog any human food at all, so I don’t want him starting to think that if he smells chicken, he can get up on the table. She assured me that it won’t be a problem as the chicken is only a starter to give him something to really work for. The goal is to wean him off of it pretty quickly. Sounds reasonable to me.
