What's the best MST3K episode?

I’ve started downloading episodes of it, but they’re rather large (700 megs) and I’ve only got 20 gigs of downloading a month, shared with two other people.

Last night I downloaded a dud (The Dead Talk Back) and with my limited data transfer would like to avoid that.

So! Suggestions for good ones? So far I’ve seen Hobgoblins, the already mentioned Dead Talk Back, and the movie. So I’ve wide open!

(note to mods: when the episodes have a mention in the credits to keep trading the tapes I’m pretty sure it means downloading them isn’t an infringment either)

My all-time favorite episode is Godzilla vs Megalon. I think it’s fairly hard to find, however.

Other favorites are Fire Maidens from Outer Space (a Joel episode), or Werewolf (from the Sci-Fi Channel era).

My favorite which I think is episode 802 is Leech Woman.

The lines are fantastic, and the movie is quite the experiment.

I also loved Puma Man, A Touch of Satan, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, Mitchell, The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, I Was A Teenage Werewolf, and The Giant Spider Invasion(I’m gonna put on a dashiki and blow your mind!)

Dangit, I can’t believe I forgot Master Ninja and Master Ninja II. Those are way, way better than Fire Maidens.

Mitchell’s great, too, but it’s Joel’s last episode so it’s better to wait until you can really appreciate it…

Oh… I thought Red Zone Cuba was HORRIBLE and a waste of time.

One of the Master Ninja movies had Demi Moore in it.

If you want to see the worse movie ever made, and suck all the joy out of your life forever and ever, DL Red Zone Cuba.

I loved Squirm!, Jack Frost (my favorite), Side Hackers, Mitchel, The Wild World of Bat Woman (“That may not be Chinese.”) Manos: Hands of Fate is a classic, of course.

Avoid The Beginning of the End and Hellcats. Hellcats came from the same people who brought us Sidehackers. It made Sidehackers look like a movie I would have paid money to see and Sidehackers sucked a lot.

I’ve seen every single episode ever made at least once, and I can say without reservation that the funniest episode ever is Final Sacrifice - #910, IIRC. One of the main characters is named, in all seriousness, Zap Rowsdower.

Close behind would be Space Mutiny, Gamera vs. Guiron, Jack Frost…I could go on, but that’s a good start.

I really don’t think it’s appropriate for you to ask on these boards for advice on the next thing to steal.

Otto, you doof… As he correctly stated, Best Brains has an open policy that as long as the episodes aren’t commercially released, they advocate fans trading them.

Is it normally your nature to come into a thread and spout off without knowing what you’re talking about?

Yes, well like I said in the OP, they endorse, and got all their popularity from people taping the episodes and trading them. MST3K, like Southpark, has the creater’s ok for trading and downloading.

You may think it’s wrong to download MST3K but the people who made the show are all for it!

You can’t go wrong with Danger!! Deathray, Soulcatcher, The Screaming Skull or Quest of the Delta Knights.

Oh, and make sure you see the Mr. B Natural short.

Oh, I forgot about Space Mutiny! “She’s presenting like a Mandril!”
“It’s real understanding of their boss to let the dead woman come back to work.”
Hee, I loved that movie.

However, I completely forgot but all the movies I mentioned in my previous post except Jack Frost and Squirm are available on DVD.

Who would he be stealing from? The shows are no longer aired on any network. Best Brains has given permission and even encouraged fans to circulate the episodes. And once Rhino releases the episodes for sale, they are no longer available for download.

I’ve got tons of them downloaded (getting one at this very moment). Finding time to watch them is the trick. Agent from H.A.R.M. probably my favourite so far.

And a vote also for Space Muntiny.

Another vote for “Leech Woman”, “Werewolf”, and “Space Mutiny”. All hilarious.

“Ah, the matte paintings of Africa are beautiful this time year, aren’t they?”

I really think Mitchell is the funniest show they ever did.

Manos’ rep is a bit inflated—as a movie, it’s no more an ordeal to sit through than Wild Wild World of Batwoman or Red Zone Cuba. If you want to call yourself a MSTie, though, you do need to see it; it’s just not one I put on all that often.

Other recommendations:

Prince of Space
Eegah!
Giant Spider Invasion
Angels Revenge
Bride of the Monster

Keep in mind that some Usenet traders do post Rhino-released episodes, so watch out for those.

My favorites are:

“I Accuse My Parents”, “Mitchell”, “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank”, “Girl in Gold Boots”, “Cave Dwellers”, “The Pod People”, and “Space Mutiny”.

Unfortunately, I havn’t had the opportunity to see nearly as many MSTs as I’d like to, but of all the ones I’ve seen, I have to agree with Smeghead and vote for the “Final Sacrafice”…the one with Zap Rowsdower. I’m laughing just thinking about it.

Huge fan of the Mike-era episodes checking in.

I’m sure a lot of people won’t agree, but I don’t think Mike really hits his stride until season six. He’s got a few good moments prior to then, but by the time they hit the trio of Coleman Francis films in six, he’s at the top of his game.

It’s something about the delivery: Mike’s just looser, and all three seem easier-going about laughing at the movie.

I love Giant Spider Invasion. Showing my soon-to-be-stepson the movie was one of the smartest things I ever did to seal the family bond. I’d say The Mole People is a close second, especially if you’ve seen Revenge Of The Creature…behold the hell that is John Agar!

Horror Of Party Beach and Riding With Death are also pretty good. Mind you, naming all these is like telling you which child I prefer, but I’d say all the SciFi-era episodes I’ve seen are pretty solid, especially season eight. Not a lot of misfire moments there.

Side note, if anyone hadn’t heard and you want to keep an eye out for him: Mike does the commentary on the newest release of Reefer Madness, has done a similar function for a reissue of Carnival Of Souls and will soon have one for Night Of The Living Dead (if it hasn’t come out already)…all are being distributed by Legend Films.

I had the chance to talk to Mike recently, and he mentioned all three of the films. Amazingly, he said it wasn’t that difficult to scale down from the three-guys-throwing-a-hot-potato style of MST3K to him doing solo commentary.
