A friend and I want to play some Scrabble online. Where’s the best place to do so? Pluses if it doesn’t cost anything, if the user interface is good, and if the dictionaries are current. 
I used to play here quite a bit, but not for a long time.
Facebook has an application called “Scrabulous” that is the best version of online Scrabble there is. Hasbro has been trying to challenge it the last few weeks, but Scrabulous is still online and doesn’t look to be going anywhere just yet.

Seconded. Charming old-school gui, fun, cool. As an interesting side note, some of the people in Word Freak (the book) and Word Wars (the movie) play on there, such as GI Joel.
I haven’t played Scrabulous for a while, but I have to disagree, unless they’ve changed how it works.
When I played it, the game wouldn’t let you submit words that weren’t in its dictionary. Which means both that that you can try all kinds of stuff and hope that there’s a word you don’t know that will work, and that you can’t ever sneak something by someone else, or make an honest mistake. Lame.
That’s only if you select a “regular” game. If you select a “challenge” game, it works just as normal Scrabble works - you can put down anything and it’s up to your opponent to challenge it.
