Well, the Two Towers video game(based on the first 2 LOTR movies) actually is looking pretty good. Is this a first?
I’m trying to think of other video games LICENCED from movies that have been good.
Any you like?

Usually anything Staw Wars is good. Kinda broad, but they are good.
The Thing videogame has been getting good reviews so far.
Without a doubt, ‘Goldeneye’ for the Nintendo 64. It’s one of the best and most revolutionary first-person shooters ever, and is regarded as one of the most influential games of it’s genre.
Kinda funny that one of the greatest games ever was based on a rather mediocre (if that) film.
Atari’s E.T.
I agree with Badtz Maru. Although a case could be made for Tron, if we can include arcade games.
I’ll agree to Goldeneye. I’m always Jaws or Oddjob.
I think it would be fun to have a movie based on game generalities, or a game based on them, if that’s not too confusing: You could have a hero-turned villian who has gone insane from dying and coming back so many times, a hero who just finds random stuff with no clue how it got there (“Where did this come from?”), supporting characters who worship the main one, though they don’t know why (“You can save us!” “How do you know?” “I don’t know, I just do!”) ect.
stupid coding Goldeneye :smack:
Spiderman was good also.
I’m largely happy with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, as it pretty accurately takes you through the first Death Star battle, the Battle of Hoth, the Battle of Endor and the second Death Star battle. They even throw in a bonus stage where you get to play as Vader and destroy the Rebels at the first Death Star.
I thought Blade Runner was quite enjoyable. I hadn’t seen the movie nor read the book before, but I’ve done both since
Goonies was excellent.
Friday the 13th was incredible, as well as being incredibly hard.
The best were on the NES, back in the day.
I heard, and maybe someone can confirm or deny this, that the Goldeneye video game made more money than the Goldeneye movie. Can this be correct straight up? Or maybe do they mean as a percentage return? (The movie probably cost $100 million to make, but I think the video game was done for only a couple mil.)
Jedi Knight
or Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
I don’t know, but it’s likely.
I do know this: Tron the arcade game took in more money than Tron the movie.
Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza
::snicker::
::scoff::
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yeah right, that game sucked sour frog ass.
Mannnnnnnnn, THAT damn game…
The title graphic is the most exciting part of it. It was the hardest thing in the world to avoid the pits. You could never jump out, I usually ended up shutting off the console and starting over until it got old about 5 minutes later.
I might as well add my approval for Goldeneye; I don’t play video games usually, but this one is so faithful and accurate that you could just watch while someone else plays, really.
I recall The Dark Crystal was supposed to be pretty top-notch for its day (the pre-Kings Quest attempts Roberta Williams made at having computer games that incorporated graphics and puzzles both).
That aside, the Playstation version of Disney’s Tarzan was pretty sweet too.
Indiana Jones 3 - Last Crusade [The Graphic Adventure]
Close to the movie but different enough to keep it interesting.
The best thing was you could either fight or think your way through.
sniff They don’t make Adventure games like that anymore [LEC did just announce Sam & Max 2 - Woohoo]
E.T.!!! I loved that game too. [Fall in pit] [Stretch neck to fly] [Run out of energy] [Fall back in pit].
We laughed, We cried, We inserted another cartridge.
Sum of All Fears looks like a decent, if incredibly unoriginal, FPS.
Other than that, I’ll have to go with Spider-Man and Goldeneye as well.
As I recall, Goldeneye (the game) was STILL a best seller for the Nintendo 64, as of about a year ago. Considering it’s age, that’s not too shabby.
I really enjoyed the Alien vs. Predator series. The Marine portions of those games were some of the most intense gaming experiences of my life. Scared the hell out of me. Play it in the dark with the sound turned up, you won’t be disappointed.
