I just got notification that a domain I own is about to expire and I want to renew it… It seems that network solutions (the company I used 2 years ago) is pretty expensive… what’s the absolute cheapest company I can use to renew it?
Thanks…

CheapestRegistry.com $8.75 a year.
Only 9.95, I had no trouble with them.
Oops! My bad!
www.godaddy.com is only 8.95
I’m using http://www.powweb.com/ and they only charge 15/yr for parking a domain name. Fairly reasonable hosting prices too.
You might get a better deal by going through a hosting company (if you need hosting) rather than directly to a registrar like Go Daddy. Lots of hosters have reduced prices from the registrars, and will use domain registration as a loss leader to get the hosting business.
I’ve been quite happy with EasySpace.com
…though it’s usually a bad idea. I’ve had hosting companies go belly up on me, with fellow subscribers up the creek because they weren’t able to change the DNS stuff because they didn’t have the passwords to the registrar.
Do yourself a favor and drop the extra few bucks (and minutes) to DIY. It may never happen, but it really really sucks when a host stops answering your emails.
Anyway, I’ve heard nothing but good things about Godaddy. Personally, I use Register.com. They’re more expensive, but I’m lazy, and I don’t want to deal with the propagation downtime. Maybe when it get close to time to renew, I’ll do the transfer.
