Whats the deal with YouTube comments calling everything "underrated"?

This is pretty mundane, but it really irks me and I see it regularly. Listening to a song on YouTube by a well known band, and in the comments, there’s always some person saying “such an underrated song”. And we’re not talking about some obscure B-Side. It’ll be a song that anyone with even the most casual familiarity with said band would name if asked “name a song by ____”

Is this some sort of goofy Gen-Z joke to annoy older people? Is it that people think if something came out before they were born no one else must have ever heard of it? Has any one else noticed this annoying trend?

“Underrated” means “I think this song is really good.”
“Overrated” means “I think this song is really bad.”

On YouTube comments, don’t expect much more insight than that

I don’t think they’re actually just using it for “this song is very good.” I think they just use it to mean they think more people should like it more. So, if it’s fairly popular, they think it should be even more popular.

I also suspect that they are speaking in their own personal bubbles. Sure, a song may be popular in general, but maybe not so much among the people they personally know.

YouTube comments are a cesspool of toxic stupidity, so I’m not surprised by anything that goes on there.

Yes my Gen z’er uses that term all the time, and normally in instances that it seems awkward to me, and also used in regards to sports teams and players.

“Underrated” has now “gone viral.”

Here’s a Tweet I stumble upon that captures what I was trying to describe, what I think people mean by “underrated” now:
