Do they have to be MY clothes? Because sometimes when I go into the hospital, I just wear the hospital gowns, and send my clothes home to be with the cats. Because it is absolutely essential that my clothes have cat hair on them all the time. If this counts, then I think I’ve been 10 miles or so from my own personal clothes.
When I proposed to Mrs C, we were both probably 100 yards or so from our clothes, swimming in a lake.
At a nudist campground in France 3km to the beach and about 6km along the beach. And that was during the day. Walking the whole distance.
Very nice family activity.
Your wife is a good sport!
From the far end of my high school’s pool to my clothes in the locker room (yes, we swam naked). Maybe 100 feet.
I’m pretty close to a never-nude – I drop my sleepy clothes a few feet from the shower and get new day ones maybe ten feet away.
I love this question. I guess I’ve never been more than a couple of hundred meters from my clothes? (Skinny dipping on various occasions when I was younger and more foolish.) My husband might “win” if he posted here - car wreck, clothes cut off, and then airlifted about 25 miles to the trauma center.
So… the two times I can think of that would be the farthest. I put them both because I don’t know which time I was the farthest.
1> In college with a bunch of friends on a trip in Hawaii… we did some late night skinny dipping… my clothes were left on the beach. I haven’t the foggiest clue how far away my shorts were, but I would wager more than 50 yards, could have been further, I really wasn’t paying any attention to it.
2> At my bachelor party… my friend had a handful of challenges for me to fulfill. The last was a naked run around our High School track. We started at the the end of the track (behind the goalposts of the football field in the middle). So, knowing the distance of a football field, and that I was on the track, etc… I can guestimate my clothes were about 110-120 yards away at their furthest point.
I estimate the farthest distance from my clothes to be several miles.
Six posts and not a single “naked zombie” response?!?
Was in a accident on a job site 300km from home, my clothes were destroyed (cut open, blood everywhere) my friends brought fresh clothes the next day.
Does that count?
There’s a cluster of Potomac Appalachian Trail Club cabins on the east side of the Blue Ridge maybe 20 miles north of Charlottesville. You turn off of US 33 onto some back roads, then off the back roads onto a dirt road that’s barely passable for a 2 wheel drive car for about a mile, then unless you’ve got 4-wheel drive, you hike in the last 1/4 to 1/2 mile. (It’s been 25 years since I’ve been there; my recollection of the distances is less than precise anymore.)
Back in August 1987 I reserved one of those cabins for a week, just me by my lonesome. (If memory serves, I’d originally intended to bring a GF along with me, but she and I had broken up a couple weeks previous.) There were people in one or two of the other cabins over the weekend, but after they cleared out on Monday morning, I was the only person in that whole area. So my clothes stayed in the cabin all week, and I freely wandered the area between the various nearby PATC cabins. I probably got a half-mile from my clothes.
Never more than 100 yards. What an interesting question.
Furthest was probably when I went swimming off a nudist beach in Cyprus. Second furthest probably when I and a friend decided to strip off and streak about the neighbourhood when we were about 12.
There are naked cycle ride events where I’m guessing the riders get a few miles away from their clothes. Any dopers been on one of these?
Surgery when I was young. A few floors down and a ways off from my room. (The piece of cloth they give you doesn’t count as “clothing”.)
BTW, does the OP exclude in utero? Otherwise …
Can’t remember the layout of the locker room and pool exactly, but maybe 60-80 feet during swim class in high school.
I was a patient in a hospital about 3 miles from home, wearing one of the hospital’s gowns. I think my brother had the clothes I wore to the hospital at his house which is also about 3 miles from the hospital.
However far I’ve wandered while skinny dipping in a lake. I walk from my cabin to the waters edge draped in a towel. Does that count as clothes? If not, add another 50 feet.
I’ve been hospitalized without “my” clothes, but I had the use of a hospital gown, and I felt clothed at the time, so I don’t think I’ll count that.
The distance between the sauna and the locker room. Can’t compete with distances measured in miles.
I’ve never been further from my clothes than the rack in the bathroom while taking a shower.
A little over 2 miles for me. Along with some friends, I did a naked skydive at the World Freefall Convention about 20 years ago. We jumped from approximately 12,500 feet altitude.
