Didn’t notice the ‘sound wave’ lines before. Thanks!
But there’s no one on the bus. Is that actually the joke? A ghost getting off at the cemetery?
Sorry. just giving it a goose. And being idealistic. I’m putting in some time here too.
Jan Stenmark, any day. Lovely art and an often dark outlook. Sadly mostly in Swedish, but I’ll helpfully supply translations for my chosen samples:
He never got tired of shooting that poor moose.
Hello! she said, and I said nothing because the echo took care of it for me.
Good thing I’m not sober, I think to myself most of the time.
At first we thought him our hero for holding his breath for so long, then it was all tragedy, tragedy.
Initially she thought she’d caught him mid-jump.
That last one gets me every time.
Yep.
Oh.
That scan makes it hard to tell what’s going on. I thought the cemetery was apartment buildings.
Have you seen the anti-Trump version?
LOL, I love the hamsters one ![]()
The bus: Could someone point my face toward the ‘sound waves’?
I’m still not seeing it.
mmm
There’s a bell or buzzer at the upper left corner of the bus, and “sound lines” radiating towards the driver. (I didn’t get it either; I thought that was a light.)
From the New Yorker:

Just a guy sitting in a chair smoking. A sign behind him says “Face Painting Five Bucks”. He’s holding a paint roller resting in a tray beside him.
(I thought the bus stop sign in the first scan was someone waiting to be picked up, and the joke was that they were outside a cemetery, implying that they’d just crawled out of a grave.)
Ah! That scan is certainly better. The previous one I didn’t get either. I thought maybe the bus was driving backwards or something.
This Far Side, which is in keeping with the Halloween season.
I just had to join in and say that is exactly what we do too. Every shopping list and note on the fridge - Cat Fud. ![]()
I also have the requisite coffee mug. Much enjoyment.
I’m pretty sure that’s not where I saw it. Not that I never looked at a Hustler; I saw it later than that time period, though.
I love this one from John Caldwell. Absurdity in its purest form.
