drewtwo99, I think you would love the cds that my wife is tortured with at her store. Every few weeks, head office sends a new one and two of your new favorites have been featured already. Although, the Fun track on the latest one is All The Pretty Girls, which might not be up your alley.
The last performance that just grabbed me was Eva Cassidy’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. That was a few years ago and nothing has really caught my full attention since.
Wow. Walk off the Earth is fascinating. I love their version of “Somebody That I Used to Know” (I was only exposed to the original through this thread).
I love their cover songs, but I’m not blown away by their original stuff. Also, my understanding is the woman in both the “Someone Like You” and “Somebody That I Used To Know” isn’t an official member. She should be.
Been a few weeks now since I caught him on Letterman, but I’ve been going back and back to his video. Father John Misty doing Son of the Ladiesman. (Josh Tillman, ex drummer for the Fleet Foxes.) Lyrics—superior. Dance moves—I want to “affect” them. If you check it out and like it, also try I’m Writing a Novel. (To me, reminescent of Paperback Writer, and I like the bop-bop-a-do-wop of the song.)
Get got by Death Grips. I don’t normally enjoy hip hop at all, but I really like the group. Funny enough I found out that the drummer plays in Hella, a band I discovered years ago.
I heard “Call Me Maybe” for the very first time when I watched the intro to Friday night’s (actually, this morning’s) Jimmy Fallon show, and this happened:
I’d never heard of the song or the singer before this morning, but a little googling has informed me that I’m the only person in the world who hadn’t. But I thought Jepsen was cute as a bug, and the song was catchy, so there you are.
^I’ve only recently become aware of that song, too. And while it’s not really my kind of song, that Fallon/Roots/Jepsen version is very fun. Thanks for sharing it!
