What's the last song you heard and liked instantly?

My Body by Young the Giant. At first I thought it was a Van Halen song (the chorus sounds very VH) and I was wondering WTF I was doing liking a Van Halen song. Imagine my relief when it turned out to be a different band!

I also love Tech N9ne’s latest, Who Do I Catch Now? (Warning: offensive lyrics)

New Radicals - “You Got to Get What You Give”:

Kane West’s “Power” – they started playing an instrumental version at Dodger Stadium this year to begin games, and I ended up having to email a stadium rep to find out what it was.

Just heard THIS for the first time today and it’s stuck in my head.

…speaking of Adele

Best song on the disc, IMHO.

Sanctuary. (acoustic)

The most instantly catchy songs from the last ten years were probably
Badger, Badger, Mushroom and
The Llama Song (Llama, Llama Duck)

Usually I’m slow on the uptake, and things with immediate appeal don’t have staying power. (The was something by Sugarland.)

Last song I heard and liked instantly, non-Kesha division: maybe “Pumped Up Kicks” or “Rolling in the Deep”, as so many others have said

Yep. I very rarely google songs but I did that one.

“Candy” by Paolo Nutini

I listen to independent radio at work all day, and I always hear artists that grab my attention. Yesterday is was Jessica Lea Mayfield’s, “Our Hearts are Wrong”.

Before that it was Cold War Kids, “We Used to Vacation”

But I have so many… I could start my own thread

Beyounce’s All The Single Ladies.

It is perfection!

These two aren’t the last songs I liked the first time I heard them but they are two songs I fell for immediately, which is unusual for me because I usually need a couple of listenings to love anything. But I loved these two songs instantly when I saw these performances on Letterman,

Doin’ It Again by the The Feelies:

Rip In Heaven by Til Tuesday:

“If I had a gun” by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

I first heard “War on Sound” by the Moonbabies on Pandora a couple of weeks ago. I’ve since bought the 4-year-old CD – yeah, I’m hip.

Midnight in Harlem

Devil is loser by Lordi

Shake it Out by Florence + the Machine.

Of all the things, “Common People” with William Shatner. No, really.

This cover version is possibly better than the original, and I love the original.
