Porsche 928S parked in my neighborhood.
I always thought the 928 was a good-looking car, and you don’t see too many of them around anymore.

It wasn’t today, but In did see an interesting car once in an inexplicable place. You’ve all seen the video of the famous death road to Coroico, Bolivia. Down that road, in Coroico, I saw a Ferrari parked on a side street, all dusty, looking like it had been there for several years without being moved.
Not the car but what was on it: an antique vehicle plate. The car? Mazda Miata.
Apparently someone working for a taxi firm in Belfast owns a Tesla. I was too busy checking the badge to see if it was an actual RHD model. I assume servicing and parts are awkward.
I just saw one about an hour ago, in red. It got the attention of a middle aged man walking past, he had to take a photo.
A red mid-60s (guess) Karmann Ghia convertible. It’s finally summer.
A shiny, like-new Subaru Baja. We were crawling through rush hour and I realized that I’d never thought about them as a possible drive for me. I think they are kind of silly. But for a young adult, it might be a perfect choice. Room for friends, can put a bike, kayak, or canoe on top. Capable of minor off-roading without tweaking, and not quite a stereotypical car. Hmm. But they were only in production from 03 to 06. Silly consumers weren’t interested. Could it be our loss more than Subaru’s?
1950 Studebaker Champion Convertible.
Pulling out of my neighborhood just as I was pulling in. Wanted to stop and talk to him but we were both turning in different directions so we both exchanged thumbs up (I guess he liked my car too).
It looked almost identical to this (Warning: old car porn ahead) 1950 Studebaker Champion Regal Convertible - YouTube
The latest indecipherable McLaren model in chicane (battleship) grey. It’s my least favourite supercar brand.
Why is it your least favorite? I like designs that are lean, and Mclaren builds them light. Not Lotus light, but close.
A patina’d 1964 International pickup, not unlike this one.
Could have done without the longhorns on the hood of the one I saw, though.
I had to look up what it was, but an Elf 2fr electric solar petal bike. Cool concept.
On the same note, a camper van on the Thousand Islands Parkway (Canadian side of the St. Lawrence River) with a license plate from Bern, Switzerland. A long way from home.
Looks too much like a spaceship. I guess I’m more of a fan of the GT supercar, i.e. Aston Martin, Maserati, Ferrari (F12/FF).
BTW, I borrowed a friend’s Lotus Elise for a day. Very fun car.
I saw an AMC Hornet today.
Yesterday I saw a Th!nk City car at the science center. It looked a lot like this one: http://wpstatic.idium.no/elbil.no/2011/03/Blogg110317oslotesterthink.jpg. It looked and felt like it was made of plastic.
Today on the highway I was what i think was an International Harvester Super Scout II, like this one: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/2977/481/7440240002_large.jpg. The one I saw was a little banged up, but it had the rollbar and soft top. I think those we’re called the “Safari”. Pretty cool looking
A Saab 99, looked like a daily driver, at least in the non-winter months. It’s a surprisingly modern looking car.
This little red car, I think it was a Morris Minor but it was set up as a drag car with fat slicks in the back. And I’m thinking it wasn’t originally a convertible.
A 1972 Ford Mustang, looked to be in fantastic shape but I don’t think it was a restore job. On the front bumper was an Ohio State University parking sticker from the 1973-74 school year! I’d like to think it was the owner’s first car, lovingly kept up over all these years.
So, anyone want to take a stab at what this might be? It’s clearly some sort of mule or prototype or yet-to-be-released model. It looks like a coupe, but it’s a pretty big car, with four doors. They’ve gone to considerable trouble, with the funny paint job and the front and rear covers, to disguise it.
Some of the lines remind me of Maserati, and even of Fisker Karma, but I’m not sure what it is. It could also be a new or updated American model. Dodge Challenger, or something similar?
The pictures were taken by my wife today as we were driving north on I-5 in San Diego County. I saw the car, and told her to snap some pics with her phone. A few minutes later, she also grabbbed this shot.
