On the way to work this morning I saw a new Buick Regal sedan. I probably wouldn’t have found that interesting if it weren’t for the fact that I recently read about how Buick is canceling that model after this year, and about how dismal its sales numbers were last year. It’s a shame; I hear they’re actually rather nice cars, but supposedly most people don’t want sedans nowadays (and the majority of those who do are probably buying Accords and Camrys, not Buicks).
On a related note, someone at the office apparently has a Regal TourX, as I sometimes see it in the parking lot. But I didn’t see it today.
Saw a Suzuki JoyPop, just going about its business. Right hand drive. About the size of a small Tardis, or a large egg carton.
Never heard of them before.

Last night I was behind a car with an Illinois vanity plate that read simply SOX. I assume the driver was a fan of the Chicago White Sox, although it tickles me to think the lucky purchaser is actually a Boston Red Sox aficionado.
While walking to the store this evening I saw an old Jeep J4000 Gladiator. Essentially the pickup version of the Wagoneer. Based on the grille I’m guessing it was from the late 1960s, although I recall reading somewhere that it’s a thing among Jeep owners to bolt the grille from an old Wagoneer/Gladiator onto a newer one – since the body was basically unchanged for nearly 30 years an older grill will literally just bolt on. Anyway, while Ford and Chevy pickups from that era are still fairly common, you hardly ever see Jeep pickups. I tried to snap a quick picture as he pulled away from the stop sign, but this was the best I managed.

If you Google Packard Clipper, you’ll see an image of a 2-tone blue 4 door Clipper. I saw one just like it yesterday, in north Phoenix.
Returning to this, apparently not seriously. It appears that one local Subaru dealer in Asia made a customized car, called it the Subaru F.U.C.K.S., and put it on display at the Singapore Auto Show. It was not officially sanctioned by Subaru nor is it an official addition to the Subaru lineup.
In Campbell today, a nice looking 57(?) Chevy Nomad Station Wagon.
Pretty sure that’s a '56. The '57 had those weird torpedo-like protrusions sticking out of the corners of the grille.
This morning, a probably late 1980s Mercury Colony Park station wagon, complete with the fake wood panels and wire wheel covers. Nice to see an old school traditional station wagon on the road.
A Pumpkin Yellow Nissan Be-1, on I-45 in downtown Houston, of all places.
Based on a few sightings of other Japan-only vehicles I’ve made lately, there seems to Be-1 some sort of underground JDM cult thing going on here.
Yesterday I was in traffic with a red, full-size American pickup. Completely unremarkable except for a sticker on the rear window: ‘Does your TRUMP STICKER make you feel stupid yet?’
That’s what made it interesting. First, it’s a sticker I hadn’t seen before; and second, it was on a full-size American pickup. Most vehicles of that type have pro-Trump stickers on them (if they have any stickers).

Swaping the stereotypes around, I once saw a Prius with an NRA sticker on it.
The most interesting car I saw this morning was a late 1960s Thunderbird, the 1967-69 body style.

On the way in to work today I saw a shiny red Saab 900S convertible, which looked as though it had been well looked-after and freshly cleaned and polished.
That finally prompted me to post, but I saw a few more things in the first month of this year. Last week I saw a pale green Rolls Royce - apparently a Ghost EWB, because it had a distinctive number plate (A99) so I can find car spotter photos of the exact car. Earlier in the month I saw a McLaren 720s - I’d seen a couple of these the previous year I think, mostly from a distance but this one was in a queue of traffic and close enough to see “720s” on the side to confirm its identity. I also saw a silver Ferrari Portofino, and a new Lamborghini Huracan in pale blue and orange, parked outside our office. It was a while since I last saw a Huracan, and I really liked the colour scheme on this one.
Finally, although I have never seen a modern Bugatti in real life, and am jealous of the person who saw a Bugatti Chiron a few pages ago, I bought myself a Lego Technic version on Friday and have built most of that over the weekend. So although it doesn’t count, that’s something anyway. It’s enormous - I’m not even sure I’ve really got space for the Lego version, let alone a real one…
